Bad Squiddo Games: Amazons! Here are some of the original sculpts from our range of Amazons, sculpted by Shane Hoyle. Instead of "greens" these are "greys" as they use the putty called Procreate, which is sadly no longer in production.

It's incredible that they're sculpted at this size- around 28mm from foot to eye - all by hand. A testament to the skill of the sculptor. These have been moulded and cast into pewter and have been extra popular this year since Warriors of Athena came out from Osprey Games.

Old Guard Games: Post Malone Visits Old Guard Games. Post Malone was in Milwaukee Wisconsin as a headlining performer at SummerFest, America’s largest outdoor music festival where he performs tonight on the main stage. (press release Jun 27, 2026)

On Friday, Post Malone stopped by Old Guard Games, Milwaukee’s premier game store. Known for their large selection of Magic the Gathering cards and collectables and huge MTG gaming community, as well as traditional board games, wargame, Warhammer, Pokémon and more. Old Guard was one of many stops on Post’s active tour of Milwaukee. Post graciously spent considerable time in the store chatting with staff and customers sharing their love of Magic the Gathering (pictured with Old Guard Games store manager Josh Lowere) before making some purchases and heading out.

Post Malone’s love of Magic the Gathering is well documented. He is sophisticated collector and player. His games are often live streamed on the “Game Knight” show on The Commander Zone YouTube channel and his collection of rare and unusual cards is legendary. He has also collaborated with Wizards of the Coast, the company that creates and produces Magic the Gathering. Old Guard Games is thrilled to have been a spot on Post Malone’s itinerary while in Milwaukee.

Alternative Armies: Holidays, Site Work and Spring Mega Event Updates

Alternative Armies: We are going to be very quiet for two weeks and there are reasons for this...read on...and thank you. The following covers the period from now until 23rd and the 26th of March 2026.

We shall be closed for annual site maintenance and also for paid staff holidays from now until the 23rd of March 2026. Our machinery and grounds must be in tip top condition as well as some special electrical upgrading which is already underway. As the wee team here has been working flat out since last year it seemed only fair to give everyone a fortnight off. It is always with regret that we raise our prices and we have not done so since June 2021. In the time since there has been a great deal of upward pressure on raw material costs for Tin and Resin (more than 100%), upon energy prices (more than 100%), upon tax rates and staffing. Alternative Armies: It has been near a decade since the last major update of the ‘look, layout and feel’ of the mighty Alternative Armies website and we have been using Blogger for all our news since 2007. During this time 15mm.co.uk ended and was taken back into us and The Ion Age had its own website, grew hugely and then was taken back into us as well. Since last remodelling we have not only begun producing resin models but now have near three hundred such codes and our overall inventory of miniatures has grown by nearly fifty percent. We have created a vast amount of our own miniatures and restored hundreds of those of Asgard and Tabletop too. We have outgrown the ability of the current site to properly cope. Black Scorpion: We recently invested in an extremely high end Macro scanner. Capable of accurately reproducing the micro details of our miniatures with incredible precision! The possibilities and new avenues this affords us are many and we'll be previewing some of our new plans in the near future.

For now we're scanning certain models that may be out of production or making them available in 28mm. Other select models will be available as prints. The quality of the latest 3d printers and resins means the very highest details with the advantage of no mould lines, flash and models can be produced in one piece more easily.

In the specials and new release categories you'll find some of these models. Such as the Imperial Captain and Dungeon Keeper in 28mm. We've also brought back Archibald! This model was released years ago but was around 40-45mm. We've now made him available as 32mm and 28mm. Victrix: Victrix Purchases Little Big Men Studios

Victrix: We are pleased to finally officially announce the very exciting news that Victrix has purchased Little Big Men Studios. As many of you know, Steve from Little Big Men Studios founded Victrix with Julian in 2008, officially leaving the business in 2014 to focus on building LBMS into the go-to brand for shield and flag transfers. Steve is the mastermind behind the design of Victrix miniatures. Over the past 10 years he has continued to research and conceptualise every Victrix set. He also manages our team of sculptors, at the same time as running LBMS, where he designs and produces (by hand) every sheet of transfers that’s leaves the shelf.

As of January 2025, Victrix will take over the production of the LBMS transfers, and Steve will officially join Victrix as Head of Design. The impact on both businesses will be incredibly positive. Steve's time will be freed up to do what he does best… design! LBMS is currently a one man band, so instead of spending the vast majority of his days printing, backing, cutting, punching & bagging transfer sheets. Steve can now focus on designing new transfers (for all manufacturers) and of course, new Victrix miniatures. A LOT more of them!

This is a very exciting time for us. Until now both Victrix & LBMS have had one hand tied behind their backs, however by taking over LBMS, we essentially unlock a vast source of creative value. This will ultimately benefit all wargamers and hobbyists who enjoy the periods and ranges both businesses already cover, plus all the new ranges yet to come. More here
