Pen and Sword: New A Wargamer's Guide to The One Hundred Years War Pre-Order

Pen and Sword: The Hundred Years War is one of the most famous conflicts of the Middle Ages and has always been popular with wargamers. Guy Bowers has written this guide to help those looking to get started in gaming this colourful and dramatic period as well as old hands looking to refresh their gamin experience.

After a brief overview of the war, outlining its three key phases, the author discusses the various armies, not just the English and French but also Welsh, Scottish, Flemish and Burgundian allies and mercenaries. Their recruitment, organization and tactics are concisely considered and their strengths, weaknesses and overall effectiveness are considered. There is a chapter on weapons and armour in the period and a brief survey of significant battles demonstrates that there is more to it than the famous English victories at Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt.

Guy discusses various approaches to wargaming the conflict, giving advice on choosing the scale and type of game that suits you and finding the appropriate set of rules. The available figure ranges are similarly reviewed. Six scenarios, each with a map and clear victory conditions, are included along with a list of recommended reading. Whether new to gaming this period or a veteran, this handy guide will prepare you to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war. Grab your own discounted pre-order here

Noble Knight Games: New Bolt Action Ayo Gorkhali! - Gurkha Starter Army

Noble Knight Games: Send in the Gurkhas! The Gurkha regiments of the Indian Army were some of the most famous (and feared) Commonwealth troops of the Second World War. Recruited from mountainous Nepal, and wielding the lethal Kukri knives, Gurkhas proved to be tough, determined, and incredibly deadly soldiers - particularly when combat devolved into close-quarters fighting. In the jungles of the Far East, they put their skills to good use, earning a reputation that has persisted to the present day.

In Bolt Action, rules for a Gurkha force can be found in the Indian Army section of Armies of the British Commonwealth. The Ayo Gorkhali! special rule (named for their battle-cry) allows you to create an entire army of Gurkhas, who (naturally) specialise in getting up close and personal with the enemy, and this starter army gives you everything you need to field a well-rounded force on the tabletop, themed around Gurkha forces fighting against Japanese troops in the Far East. Modiphius Entertainment: Escape from Stalingrad Z - Miniature Tabletop Boardgame

Modiphius Entertainment: Welcome to Escape from Stalingrad Z a game of grim history as seen through the cracked lens of the supernatural. Escape from Stalingrad Z is a 1 to 3 player solo/co-op/versus narrative campaign game of tactical combat set in the horrific zombie plague of World War II. It has many features that separate it from most miniatures games.

The game takes just 1 minute to set up, has a very compact play area (basically one open book), takes 20 to 40 minutes to play each scenario and is designed with a story matrix making it a true "Move your own adventure." The game plays true solo with a very good AI that is simple to implement. With two players you can play CO-OP or Versus. In CO-OP each player takes control of one or two characters. In Versus mode second or third player is the Zombie Master, controlling the zombies actions. Check this game and miniatures here and use "WNT" for an extra 10% off.

Snarling Badger Studios: Repent! Ye Foolish Gods Tabletop Skirmish Rules

Snarling Badger Studios: Welcome to Repent! Ye Foolish Gods, a miniatures-agnostic tabletop skirmish wargame you and your friends take the role of fallen, cursed and forsaken warriors in a war of revenge against the dark gods who wronged them.

Designed to play solo, co-op or as an adversarial skirmish game, Repent! Ye Foolish Gods is created by Adam Loper and Vincent Venturella for 1-2 players. From the book: “Long ago, this world knew justice, knew peace. That time has long passed. The War of Light and Shadow roiled in the heavens and here upon our lands. The gods and their champions fought and brought only wreckage. In the end, the gods of light were defeated, cast into the endless void, never to return. All that remained were the gods of shadow."

Use any fantasy miniatures you’d like in your quest to destroy the dark gods and their followers. Enjoy a deep campaign system that allows you to choose your raids, with varied secondary objectives, unusual occurrences and varied goals that keeps each mission and each play fresh and different while gaining power to challenge the gods themselves.
