Northstar Miniatures: New Osprey Games Broken Legions - Fantasy Skirmish Rules Coming in August

Northstar Miniatures: The Roman Empire rules the civilised world with an iron fist, seemingly all-powerful and limitless. And yet, the power of Rome is secured not by its mighty legions, but by small bands of warriors and agents fighting a secret war. Tasked by the Emperor to explore ancient temples, forgotten labyrinths and beast-haunted caverns, they seek out artefacts hidden by the gods themselves, hunt creatures of myth and face enemies that would use dark magic against the empire.

Broken Legions is a set of fantasy skirmish rules for a war unknown to history, fought in the shadows of the Roman Empire. Various factions recruit small warbands to fight in tight, scenario-driven battles that could secure the mystical power to defend - or crush - Rome. A points system allows factions to easily build a warband, and mercenaries and free agents may also be hired to bolster a force. Heroes and leaders may possess a range of skills, traits and magical abilities, but a henchman's blade can be just as sharp, and a campaign can see even the lowliest henchman become a hero of renown.

Note that Northstar Miniatures won't support this new ruleset by Osprey Games with an official miniature range. Plenty of suitable miniatures already available to represent the factions and creatures needed to play

Orcs in the Webbe: Today sees another classic 1st Edition scenario restored on Orcs in the Webbe. Another classic from Mike Baumann's Filbanto Stew website.

Klaus Fritsch's Sharke's Breakfast was actually first published on Orcs in the Webbe during it's very first incarnation way back in 2004 (yep we've been going that long), for some reason when I made the jump from Dreamweaver to GooglePages in 2007 Sharke's Breakfast did not make it. So after an absence of nine years it has been restored for your reading pleasure. In it, at the siege of Badjobz, before the storming of the breaches, Captains Sharke (of Albion's Rifles) and Porcaria (of Al Garvey's Caçadores) make a bet to meet each other for breakfast whilst the war against the Ferach Elves continues on around them. As usual I've included full notes to allow playing with 3rd Edition rules but left the article as is for all you still playing 1st Edition :) Check it here

Heroic Maps: New Grim's Gullet - Blood River Scenery Map

Heroic Maps: The Vein, a river of blood and death that wends its way through the landscape, brings death and pestilience to the surrounding area. The river eventually vanishes underground through a chasm known locally as Grim's Gullet. Most people avoid the river and Grim's Gullet entirely, but some others have made the location a place of worship. Hugging the walls of the chasm, stone steps lead down to a lake of blood, watched by dozens of huge carved stone skulls. A sacrificial altar stands before a series of antechambers.

Grim's Gullet is a set of printable dungeon floorplans compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. It can be used as a standalone gameboard, or combined with any same-scale tileset. Grim's Gullet is a multiple level set, comprising 2 battlemaps (each depicting a different floor) Surface - A thick river of blood meanders through a wasted landscape, with dead trees and lifeless rock. Cave - Reached by a set of steps that wind down from the surface, the cave is dominated by a large lake of blood, crossed by a bridge and worshiped via an altar. Huge stone skulls are carved into the walls of the cavern. Also included is a set of 300dpi full size jpgs, for poster printing or VTT (gridded and gridless)
