Badger Games: Pontoonier Miniatures Releases Norse and Natives for Vinland C. 1000 AD

Badger Games: For centuries, the Norse terrorized the coastal world from Europe to North Africa to even Asia. Driven by a lack of land, an adventurous spirit and a thirst for plunder, the Vikings terrorized much of the known world. However, in the West, due to distance, smaller numbers and difficulty in supply, the Vikings were not able to act as they did in Europe and could find themselves on the defensive.

The Vinland Sagas speak of the voyages of Leif Erickson, the early Norse settlements and the people they encountered. The fertile lands these settlers found were not as easy to hold and their interactions not always friendly. 

Pontoonier Miniatures created this line, designed by the late, great Rob Baker, to represent the less well equipped farmers of the Vinland settlements and the native peoples they occasionally came into conflict with. Each side is represented by some command types, warriors, missile troops and casualties. These are perfect for Skirmish games like Mana Press’ TRIBAL or even larger scales like SAGA. Badger Games: Pontoonier Miniatures Release 28mm Ethiopians

Badger Games: Pontoonier has released the first wave of miniatures in a range of figures to cover the first forays of Italy into East Africa in the 1880s. Theses cover the irregular infantry of the Kingdom of Ethiopia. While designed for the 1880s and 1890s and taken from period photographs and illustrated newspapers, these figures have a far wider reach. Many of the melee armed figures will work for Ethiopian armies from the late Medieval period through the Renaissance. Add in the firearms and these figures will work for the 18th Century, Victorian Era and even through the Second World War.

In the Victorian Era alone, Ethiopia fought wars against Britain, Italy, Ottoman Turkey, Ethiopian Warlords, Egypt, Zanzibar, Somali Tribes, Belgians and even two wars with the Madhi of the Sudan. This provides a wealth of campaigns and “what-ifs” for gamers. The initial release has eight packs with four variants per pack providing all of the variety and completeness customers have come to expect from Pontonier Miniatures. Pontoonier plans to greatly expand this range with scores of additional figures to be released in 2025! Badger Games: Pontoonier Miniatures Releases Old West Federales

Badger Games: No more need to repurpose Maximillian Adventure or Pershing Expedition Mexican regulars for your Old West games as Pontoonier has released wave one of a huge range of 28mm Mexican army figures for the late 1870s, the 1880s and 1890s.

Frederick Remington was renown for his accurate artistic representations of the Old West (Native Americans, Cowboys, Settlers and more). Remington made several trips to Mexico. In the late 1880s, he traveled throughout Mexico for nearly two months sketching and painting the people he came across for Harper’s Weekly. His artwork, from his firsthand observations, sketches and paintings form the basis of tis range. 

This first offering is of the Infantry as they appeared on campaign. Artillery and Cavalry and much more will follow! During this period, the Mexican Federal Army or “Federales” faced off against Ex-Confederate Raiders who refused to quit, Wayward US patrols. Apaches, Comanches, Comancheros, Peon uprisings, Warlords, Civil Wars, Outlaws, Banditos and a decades long conflict with the Yaqui.

Badger Games: New Pontoonier Miniatures Anglo-Goorka War Range!

Badger Games: Pontoonier Miniatures has released phase I of what will be a series of releases for a new, 28mm range covering the Anglo-Goorkha War of 1814-16. This is the war that first introduced the British to the stalwart Gurkha warriors and began a relationship of mutual admiration that has spanned the centuries.

Badger Games: It seems like most of the great Old West rules sets have scenarios where you rescue a condemned member of your posse from a corrupt sheriff or a soiled dove (damsel) from a vicious group of outlaws. But, there aren't figures to represent the unfortunate captive.
