Dadi & Piombo: Hostile Ground - Cinematic Wargame Rules

Dadi & Piombo: Hostile Ground is a "cinematic" wargame that can be played solo or in cooperative mode.  The ruleset is currently under development (by buying this set you will be able to download any possible updated version) and this beta version is focussed on contemporary warfare.

Unlike many other rules, Hostile Ground is designed to be adapted to the needs of the players, therefore, using the basic mechanics, they are free to create customized scenarios, event tables etc. and adapt this set for a wider period, ranging from the First World War into the realm of science fiction or a zombie apocalypse. Wargames Illustrated: Dadi & Piombo: Miniature Wargaming Rules - Baroque - Europe at War 1550-1700 Reviewed

Wargames Illustrated reviewed the previously Wargame News and Terrain covered Baroque ruleset and it sounds to be certainly worth a look and game according to the reviewer!

Overall, Baroque seems to be a solid ruleset for the period. The book is well produced, and the rules show evidence of considerable playtesting before publishing, something that cannot be said for many of the new rulesets being produced at the moment. Check their full review here

Dadi & Piombo: Online Dadi & Piombo Magazine Issue #33

Just dowloaded Dadi & Piombo issue 33 which was originally released in 2008 but has now been re-released through the Wargame Vault. Dadi & Piombo was initially only released in Italian but some of the later issues have been released bilingual Italian and English. I had heard good reviews of these magazines and decided to take a look one of them as all the published issues can be downloaded online for only a couple of pounds or euros. The content of issue 33 is

  • Alcaniz 1809
  • Pulp, a health warning
  • Toutatis 2008 photo report
  • Steppes 1213
  • scenarios for DBA, DBMM and Basic Impetus
  • The Italo Turkish War 1911-12
  • part 2: Lybians and Turks
  • Field of Glory
  • Red Shadows and Show Down at Little Rock
  • 2 scenarios for High Noon rules (see D&P31)
  • Hamburger Tactica photo report
  • News from the market, international calendar
  • and much more...

As said I have bought issue 33 and took a quick look and was pleased by the photos which are great for inspiration, a nice Wild West scenario and the articles about Pulp and the Third Punic War. If you're interested you can find all the issues here at the Wargame Vault.
