Shanty town, bunkers or Waterworld atoll?

Here are some pics of my recently made shantytown, bunkers or atoll? Yes, you can use it for everything! First I made the bunkers for my stalingrad board (15mm) but when I was turning the bunkers around. I saw that thy would also form a nice shanty town (15mm) or small atoll (28mm).

The actual building were made of corrugated cartonboard and ordinary cartonboard from boxes, etc. You just cut strokes of the same size and divide them afterwards in smaller pieces. Then you glue them together and add the corrugated cartonboard dead simple.

Some bunkers to be covered in the rubble of stalingrad, city of Stalin!

This one I can use as an oilsilo or a shelter.

Here you can see an atoll, an atoll is a artificial island made of rubble and other waste where the survivors of the worldflood in "Waterworld" live on. This atoll will be a really nice piece of scifi terrain for my Kallistra scavengers. http://www.kallistra.co.uk/

"Waterworld" atoll.

The shantytown is usable for most of the modern conflicts (Somalia, Iraq, Africa, etc)

Indian war fortifications (15mm)

Here are some pictures of an old project that I did because I was fascinated by italeri's indians and colonials.

On this picture you can see one of the fortification. My purpose was to recreate some plaited straw (gevlochten riet) but I failed in that assigment. So I decide to cover the straw up with lots of flock so It looks like a barricade made of branches.

Here you can see the entrance to the hasty fortification, I added also some toothpicks like some sort of palissade. Oh, I forgot to mention the 2 fortifications were based on a piece of polystryn which was sanded and textured.

Here an aerial photo of the first fortification.

Here is a photo of the second fortification this one is nicer then the first one!

On this piece I decided to add some sort bunker made of logs, you can also see the rocks which I really like on the piece. The rocks were created by putting lots of hotglue on the polystryn and after that pourring lots of small stones on the glue.

Aerial photo of the second fortification, here you can see the nice rocks, ...

And as last picture a duo-picture of the 2 fortifications with some pieces of my bought pinetrees (which are based on 1 eurocent pieces)

ps: I never bought the indian and colonial miniatures :(

So stay tuned more will follow, ...

Easy trees (28mm-15mm)

Here some photos of my quick and cheaply build trees, made of some branches my father has pruned(snoeien).

Here you can see the basic structure (this is a bad example because it needs more branches on the top, but It will do if you add some extra branches made of iron wire. You can attach these iron branches by drilling some holes in the tree and glue them in the holes with PVA glue)

Althought you can see a tree with a good structure I decided to add some iron wires to attach the liches easier and more realistic. When you use iron wire you can put the liches on the wires and after that you can bend the wire so the liches are in place.

Another picture of a good structured tree with many branches. The base is made of MDF which is textured with some sand. (The flocking still needs to happen)

Some pictures of the entire wood.

So stay tuned more will follow soon, ...

Spanish windmills (28mm)

Here are some photos of my windmills, they are made from "springle"boxes (brand of chips) which has been textured with sand and filler and the windwhicks were made of some woodstrips. They are based on a CD which has been flocked and textured with filler and sand.

Fantasy cottages (part I)

Here some photos of my most recent work some fantasy cottage for warhammer or lord of the rings.

Here you can see my barn with a thatched roof made of faux fur and hardend with watered down PVA.

Better view of the thatched roof.

On this picture you can see a window made of a small piece of cartonboard (the backside) with a frame of wood (this wood is not balsa because that's really expensive). The actual window is made of bits of fly mesh (vliegengaas).

Here you can see the rooftiles, each rooftile is unique and handcut. This job was very time consuming.

stay tuned for the finished products, ....

15mm modular D-day board (part I)

Finally some photos of my modular D-day board, they aren't quit finished but I wanted to shared them with my fellow wargamers.

Sight from the sea, some impressing bunkers made of only polystrene, tape and filler!! And a lick of cheap paint, ...

A bird-view, as you can see the board exists of 4 smaller board each (50cm x 50cm).

Frontal view, in the front the beach and after the beach, the dunes and bunkers all made of polystrene or "isomo". The tootpicks in the dunes will be used to attach camouflage nettings and the parts in the dunes that are marked with the stripes will be removed and replaced by bark.

And again the birds-view, what more can I say ...

Another close up of the dunes with the beachroad on the right.

On top of the dunes, roadmarkings and trenchmarkings, ...

Close up of the stairs and bunkerentrance in the dunes.

Dunes and bunker - boards

The painted version will be added soon, so stay tuned, ...

Somalian pirateships (28mm)

With all the news of the Somalian pirates I decided to make some pirateships myself.

My piratefleet consists of

- Mothership
- 3 smaller vessels

further expansions

- Trade vessel
- Supertanker "Sirius"
- ...

planned purchased:

- TAG (The Assault Group): pirates, africans, hostages, SAS, ...

Enough talking here are some photos

Some small pirate vessels and the motherships near the coastline. All the ships were made of cartonboard and bits of plastic, first I made a frame of cartonboard as the hull and after that I added the decks and cabins.

The entire Somalian piratefleet near the Somalian coast. The Somalian coastline was created with some of my d-day boards and some jungleterrain.

Stay tuned, more will follow soon...

Vietnam 1/72 (part I)

Here some photos of my vietnam terrain, more photos will follow soon (the batteries of the digital camera were empty)

This is a my US base (barracks and garages).
These barracks/ garage were made of 2 halfcirled bits of cartonboard and corrugated cardboard!! dead simple to make and fast to. I only needed 15 minutes to make, paint, and add some rusteffect.

In front of the picture you can see my watchtowers also simply to make only (10 minutes each for the creation and 10 minutes for painting). on the picture you can also see my jungle terrainpiece with homemade palmtrees.

The palmtrees were made with wire, some pieces of brown rope and some aquarium plants purchased in a local pet shop for around 4 euros (50 leafs that's 0.36 euro for 1 tree).

1) First you cut a piece of wire length: 7 cm.
2) Then you attach the leaves (4 or 3 for 1 tree) on the wire with a hotgluegun or some tape.
3) After that you cut a piece of brown rope long enough to cover the entire wire and you glue the start of the rope were the tree starts.
4) Now you must twist the rope around the wire untill it totally covered.
5) As last you paint the rope brown en you drybrush the brown with a lighter brown.

And as last picture you can see my scratchbuild vietnam hooch with some jungle terainpieces
