Before we take a look at the actual pieces, I first want to introduce the people involved in StudioLevel and the ongoing Kickstarter as they're great chaps. The founder of StudioLevel is Sebastian, a talented miniature artist creating custom miniatures and scenery but also supplying fully painted and converted armies. Recently his friend Tom also joined StudioLevel adding his expertise with 3d printing, model making, photography and film making to the creative assets of StudioLevel. Together they are now doing their first Kickstarter in which you will be able to purchase some great-looking and useful post-apocalyptic scenery pieces to further enhance your miniature battlefield.
The Bantam Alley Scenery Review
Always looking for cool new wargame products for Wargame News and Terrain, I got in touch with Sebastian while he was selling his first scenery elements online. Quite some time has passed since the first StudioLevel review when I heard from Sebastian that he was preparing a new Kickstarter to fund a range of highly-detailled scenery elements for his The Bantam Alley - Wargaming Terrain Extras Kickstarter. So we quickly agreed upon a new review as I was eager to share these new pieces with the readers of Wargame News and Terrain.
For the review Sebastian send me a nice assortment of useful resin scenery elements such as channel hatches, square tech plates and round tech hatches among other cool stuff such as damaged electrical boxes. These pieces have all been designed and created so you can build your own structures and detail them with these scenic elements or they can be used to convert existing commercial or scratch-build structures. The scenic pieces are designed to be used with 28-32mm models so fit with most popular modern wargame miniature ranges currently available. The pieces were digitally designed and printed with the production pieces being cast in durable high-quality resin. After a close inspection no airbubbles could be found on the received scenery pieces and the detail was very good.
The pieces that were supplied for the review were packed in some really nice packaging as you can see in the pictures below. Each of the packs were supplied in ziplock bags and supplied with a nice artisan cartonboard label featuring the StudioLevel logo and the contents of the pack. Some may think who cares about packaging, well I do and this packaging looks ace!
In the pictures below you can see the square tech plates and hutchs which can be used to add some great detail to your wargame buildings and scenery tables. I can see these easily being used on science fiction spacecraft or to convert standard historical buildings in some cool low tech science fiction structures. With the upcoming release of the new Games Workshop Necromunda Underhive Game these might prove popular to create the dense scenery needed for The Underhive.
