Corvus Games Terrain: PaintPal Studio Coming to Kickstarter April 4th

Corvus Games Terrain: "PaintPal Studio is a follow-up expansion to the 3D printable PaintPal Travel Hobby System that launched on Kickstarter in 2022. It's a system of print-at-home modular racks that cater for most of the popular miniatures paint brands, and also allows you to slot in the PaintPal Travel System trays underneath the main racks, as well as coming with specific drawers and storage options. It all connects together using the very popular OpenLOCK clipping system.

The paint modules come in both flip-top and dropper bottle variants (although the flip-top version can also accommodate droppers) and hold 3,4,5 or 4,6,8 bottles respectively. The modules connect to triangular frames using OpenLOCK clips making swapping out modules very easy. A set of underslung risers allow the underneath to be used as storage with a series of slide-out drawers or using the original PaintPal Travel Hobby System trays. The rear has options for extra paint holders of various sizes or glue bottles and tools. It's coming to Kickstarter on the 4th April and the pre-launch page is currently open to be notified when it kicks off. Check it here

Corvus Games Terrain: Tycho Starport - A 3D Printable Terrain Scenery Kickstarter Coming Soon

Corvus Games Terrain: Tycho Starport will be the third 3D printable terrain Kickstarter from Corvus Games Terrain. The campaign will feature four pledge levels with 35 printable building designs in the core set pledge alone. The remaining pledge levels will add to the core set by the way of a shop district with extra buildings, kiosks and billboards, and an industrial-themed zone with even more building designs, modular cargo pad, and comms dish. The final pledge level will be a discounted All-in tier comprising the core set buildings, the Shop District and the Industrial District. This will be around 100 building designs! A lot of stretch-goals have already been designed and tested, and will add walkways, ramps, stairs, extra roof types, scatter terrain, and more. If unlocked, these stretch-goal models will be available to all pledge levels.

How Does It Work?

Each building is made up of a lower section, with slots for optional drop-in doors, and a connectable roof. Buildings are built around a three-inch cube system, and are stackable. Four "cube" shapes have been designed to allow for a variety of building sizes. The variations are single cube (3x3), double cube (6x3), L-shape (6x6), and quad cube (6x6). The maximum-sized quad cube will comfortably fit on an average print-bed size of 200mm x 200mm. The buildings are designed for 28mm-34mm scale miniatures.

It will have four pledge levels:

• Core set featuring 35 building designs with removable roofs and optional drop-in doors.
• Shop District with 30 building designs plus the core set
• Industrial District with 35 buildings plus the core set
• All-In pledge with core set plus Shop District plus Industrial District.

A number of stretch-goals are planned, including walkways, stairs and ramps, scatter terrain, roof barriers, extra roof styles, printable billboard artwork, and more. The pre-sign-up page is now open here

Corvus Games Terrain: Sector Corvus Prime: Modular 3D Printable Sci-fi Terrain Kickstarter Ending Soon!

Corvus Games Terrain' Sector Corvus Prime: Modular 3D Printable Sci-fi Terrain is ending soon! Make sure to check this awesome Kickstarter now here!

Fully funded 3D printable wargaming terrain to create modular layouts and featuring over 200 STL files to download and print. Scaled for 28mm sci-fi games and compatible with Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team, Sector Corvus Prime comes with enough variation in floors, roofs, and walls to create epic sprawling game boards to fight over.

All of the models print without the need for supports, and are designed to print vertically for maximum quality on FDM printers. Maximum size will fit average printer beds - 200mm x 200mm. The models have also been test printed by members of the wargaming / 3D printing community.

I've test printed every model using a combination of slicers, including Simplify3D and PrusaSlicer, and printed them on common desktop machines such as the Creality CR10 series, as well as a Prusa Mk2S. Backers will now also receive a WarLayer compatible selection of models appropriate to their pledge. So each pledge level will contain the same amount of WarLayer scaled wall/floor/roof pieces as the OpenLOCK versions. Twice the bang for your buck! There will also be a scaled and converted WarLayer strut/support piece.

Modular terrain is something I am hugely passionate about. I love the idea of using a small number of components and being able to create varied pieces each time. Whether it’s a simple dwelling, an industrial unit or an elaborate warrior monastery, the concept is the same but the outcome has so much more thematic potential.

A handful of common structural parts, a couple of wall tiles, and a drop-in roof can be arranged into the simplest habitation building to grand, towering constructions that look awesome on the tabletop. Perfect for grimdark settings like Warhammer 40k, Necromunda, and Kill Team. So I like to incorporate some level of modularity into most of my terrain designs if possible. I think it lends so much originality to a game board and gives the hobbyist the chance to flex their creative muscles too.

I wanted some modular buildings that worked for multiple sci-fi skirmish games and so focussed on creating a lived-in under hive/industrial setting with some slightly more 'up-market' buildings thrown into the mix. And so, Sector Corvus Prime was born.

Corvus Games Terrain: Sector Corvus Prime: Modular 3D Printable Sci-fi Terrain Kickstarter!

Corvus Games Terrain launched their first Kickstarter so launch a range of modular 3D printable 28mm Sector Corvus Prime sci-fi terrain! Check this exciting Kickstarter now here

Why Sector Corvus Prime you ask?

Modular terrain is something I am hugely passionate about. I love the idea of using a small number of components and being able to create varied pieces each time. Whether it’s a simple dwelling, an industrial unit or an elaborate warrior monastery, the concept is the same but the outcome has so much more thematic potential.

A handful of common structural parts, a couple of wall tiles, and a drop-in roof can be arranged into the simplest habitation building to grand, towering constructions that look awesome on the tabletop.

How does the modular system work?

It’s all very simple really. The struts clip into the the floor component, providing the shell of the structure. The wall panels then slot into the grooves in the struts. The roof surround panel locks them all into place, and finally, the roof plate fits into the roof surround to finish it all off. But here’s where the beauty of modularity kicks in. It’s a simple matter of adding another floor component on top of the walls, instead of the roof surround, to create an upper storey to the building. You could keep going and build a further storey and put a massive structure on the gaming table. Each wall panel is different, so no two structures need to look the same.

On the matter of printability

All of the models print without the need for supports, and are designed for FDM printers. Maximum size will fit average printer beds - 200mm x 200mm. The models have also been test printed by members of the wargaming/3D printing community. I've test printed every model using a combination of slicers, including Simplify3D and PrusaSlicer, and printed them on common desktop machines such as the Creality CR10 series, as well as a Prusa Mk2S.

Corvus Games Terrain: Sector Corvus Prime - 3D Printable SciFi Scenery Kickstarter Preview

Corvus Games Terrain: Sector Corvus Prime is a huge set of 3D printable sci-fi terrain pieces from established Irish 3D printed terrain company, Corvus Games Terrain. It's split into three pledge levels, featuring all the components needed to create sprawling cityscapes to fight over.

At the entry-level pledge, The Industroplex, it contains over 90 downloadable STL files while at the All-In pledge level, around 200 STLs will be available for download and print. Plenty of unlockable stretch goals are planned as well as some other interesting bonus downloads for backers.

Sector Corvus Prime has been designed from the get-go as a completely modular battle-ready cityscape. It features a huge number of 3D printable interchangeable parts that snap together to form impressive buildings. Each structure has a core set of components - a floor support, structural supports utilising the popular OpenLOCK connector ports, slot-in walls, a roof support, and a drop-in roof option piece.

The OpenLOCK system allows for really tall buildings while providing a rigid support structure that is easy to put together and take apart again. There's a huge selection of wall designs to choose to create a grungy used sci-fi feel, along with multiple floor/roof options. Create everything from a factory complex, a chemical processing area to a Hab building using the simple drop-in wall and roof designs. It was designed for 28mm - 32mm scales and will look great in Warhammer 40K, Kill Team, Infinity, and even Star Wars Legion. Sector Corvus Prime is launching on Kickstarter on Tuesday 17th September. Check out corvusgamesterrain.com for more details.
