Crooked Dice: New SciFi Colony 87 Kickstarter Preview!

Crooked Dice: Behind the scenes we have prepping for our next Kickstarter – a fourth wave for Colony 87 – our retro sci-fi range. In the autumn we’ll be uncovering more layers of the infamous outpost on the edge of known space. We will take you uptown to the Spires to meet the founding, and fading, House Vandestine; travel into the Dog Wastes with the Long Tail Caravan; pop to the Tiered Market; and then visit the Breaker Family Bynson salvaging in the wreck of the Mist Ship. Here’s a wee preview of some of the 40+ figures we hope to add to the range. Watch the skies…

Crooked Dice: Colony 87 - The Third Wave 28mm Sci-Fi Civilians Kickstarter Final Days!

Crooked Dice: Following the two previous Colony 87 kickstarters run by Jon Boyce, Crooked Dice are proud to be the new owners of this wonderful range of sci-fi civilians. The six new characters in this third campaign are another eclectic mix of citizens of Colony 87. "I'm delighted that the Colony 87 range is finding a new home with Crooked Dice. Handing over the reins not only means that the range will be more easily accessible, but will hopefully see many more new additions and continued support. I can't wait to see how things develop!"

As you would expect from a vibrant trading hub, it is possible to buy almost anything on the streets of Colony 87. Reputable merchants operate from permanent emporia or licenced stalls, whilst street vendors hawk cut-price goods delivered by trade ships from the Livid Nebula and beyond. Busy citizens browse the marketplace, or pass through en route to the spaceport - ready to travel offworld or make deliveries.

Colony 87: Colony 87 - Science Fiction Civilians Kickstarter

Colony 87 has announced that they will be launching a third kickstarter later this year! Wave 3...there is a third set currently in progress. Concepts have been done and three sculpts have been completed. I'm anticipating an October/November Kickstarter.

Colony 87: Return to Colony 87 - 28mm Sci-Fi Space Opera Civilians Kickstarter

Colony 87: Colony 87 had grown in power over the decades. It was now the most important centre for trade, industry, science and arts in the sector. Millions flocked to the Colony; the rich and the powerful, the ambitious and the desperate. There was a place for them all, no matter how high-born or lowly.

The aim of this project is to produce six new 28mm scale sci-fi civilian miniatures for the Colony 87 range for use in RPGs and tabletop wargames. The figures have been designed with a retro sci-fi aesthetic by fantasy illustrator Will Beck and sculpted by ace figure designer Michael Anderson. Check the Kickstarter here.

Jon Boyce: Colony 87 28mm Sci-Fi Civilians Kickstarter

Just found this excellent Colony 87 kickstarter by Jon Boyce, I really like the miniatures but sadly to expensive for me: Humanity has reached the stars and settled across the galaxy; planets wrestle with exploding populations. Humans can be found on temperate agri-worlds, sweating factory-worlds and harsh fringe colonies. All-powerful Governors create personal fiefdoms, monopolising local trade and industry, while smugglers and black-marketeers seek to evade the iron fist of officialdom. Colony 87 is just one of a million such worlds.

The aim of this project is to produce a brand new range of six 28mm scale sci-fi civilian miniatures for use in RPGs and tabletop wargames. The figures have been designed with a retro sci-fi aesthetic by fantasy illustrator Will Beck and sculpted by ace figure designer Michael Anderson. The figures are roughly 28mm to the eye (with some variation across the range) and have been traditionally sculpted. They will be mastercast in resin and rubber moulded and production cast in metal by Pete 'The Mouldmaker' Brown.

This kickstarter will enable the figures to be mastered and production moulded, which will otherwise be unlikely to happen. This kickstarter is limited to the six figures shown above. Will and Michael are primed to produce more figures for the range (such as workers, petty officials and criminal classes), although scheduling means we won't be able to add to the range as part of this kickstarter - any future figures would be likely to be sculpted towards the end of 2015 and would be a separate project.
