Warlord Games: Loads of New Beyond the Gates of Antares Miniatures Previewed

Warlord Games: The big news though came in the shape of the shelf full of new models for Beyond the Gates of Antares – the cabinet had to be wiped down several times throughout the day due to excessive drool (and that was just from the Warlord staff!).

At the back left, we can see the Concord Interceptor Squad – next to which are two Ghar Battle Suits (one with Disruptor Bomber, and one with Gouger and Disruptor Claw) At the centre at the rear, we have Algoryn General ‘Tar Es Janar’ – then (rear right) a Freeborn Mag Light Support, squad of Freeborn Renegades, and Freeborn support team with X-Launcher. Then, across the front (left to right) we have Ghar Outcast Slave Drivers leading a Ghar Outcast Squad, an Isorian Senatex Command, and Isorian Senatex Squad…

In the picture below you can see some of the upcoming hard-plastic Portugese Peninsular Napoleonic Infantry if I'm not mistaken along with pictures of the upcoming hard-plastic French Napoleonic cavalry boxed set. Think these cavalry miniatures are Chasseurs a Cheval with much less individual parts than the plastic Perry Miniatures cavalry models!

Wargames Factory: Exclusive Plastic Apocalypse Biker Gang Sprue Previewed at Salute

Looking around on Salute, I spotted this interesting plastic apocalypse biker gang sprue laying around on a random demonstration table. A quick look and some pictures revealed that the sprue was made by Wargames Factory.

In the picture we can clearly see that the sprue contains enough parts to make two motorcycles consisting out of a body with separate front wheel, exhaust pipe and fork. Next to this we can  spot all sorts of post-apoc weaponry ranging from savage handweapons to rifles and machineguns.

Looking at the actual miniatures you can see that each bike can be mounted by two miniatures while the sprue also contains four dismounted miniatures. My guess and desire would be that most of these parts will be interchangeable with the exciting post-apocalypse male and female survivor sets. ooking forward in seeing this set being released and creating the world of Mad Max and the like!

From Paul over at Wargames Factory: "Nice scoop on Wargame Terrain's part! I'm not sure if that sprue was meant to be left out or not. Wai Kee was at Salute this week meeting with various companies and I imagine they showed off some samples. I just barely got some samples of that kit myself. We won't be releasing the kit for a while yet. Production of the sprues is just getting started, box art and instructions are pending etc.

That said they're rather customize-able. You can change their look with the following:

  • 3 different fork styles, 1 is an extended fork for a "chopper" look.
  • 2 different styles of mufflers
  • 2 optional sissy bars or bed roll instead
  • 2 types of bags or a gas tank to glue behind the sissy bars (or elsewhere, IE - file off the front lamp and mount them on the front forks)
  • optional rear side bags
  • Rifle in its sheath designed to glue to the right fork.

Wargame Terrain described it pretty well. The kits obviously an expansion into our Dark Futures line. The torsos and arms are for the most part interchangeable (one or two of the arms are a bit body specific). The kit will contain 3 of the sprue. Six motorcycles, twelve Figures, two per bike or some standing. The women in the kit can be passengers or there is a set of female driving legs and arms."

Spiral Arm Studio: Maelstrom's Edge's Hard-Plastic Science Fiction Miniatures Previewed at Salute

Preview on Salute was this new science fiction wargame named Maelstrom's Edge currently getting funded through Kickstarter.

The guys behind this new science fiction game are from DakkaDakka forum and looking to create units of hard-plastic miniatures! I have taken some pictures of the sprues and assembled miniatures which were being previewed but first some information about the actual game.

Maelstrom's Edge is a far future science fiction setting where a golden age of exploration and innovation has been ripped apart and humanity is on the very edge of annihilation. The Maelstrom, a gigantic apocalyptic explosion of dark energy, is rapidly expanding out from the heart of the galaxy, destroying everything it touches. As worlds and stars are obliterated from existence, those who have the means flee towards deep space, while those left behind fight for the chance to escape.

This Kickstarter will allow us to raise the funds to finish and optimise the first Maelstrom's Edge boxed set: Battle for Zycanthus. Our team of game designers, writers and artists have been working hard for the past three years to develop a universe, range of models and ruleset of the highest quality, and we are extremely close to accomplishing our goal.

In the Battle for Zycanthus boxed set, we'll provide everything you need to play the Maelstrom's Edge tabletop game, in which physical plastic models are moved around a table to simulate a battle. As well as the rules, dice, templates and tokens required for playing our innovative new ruleset, backers will receive two armies in detailed, multipart HIPS plastic for the Karist Enclave and Epirian Foundation factions. The models are provided as plastic sprues and you get to assemble and paint them, customising your forces to your own preferences and battle plans.

Northstar Miniatures: Metal and Plastic Frostgrave Miniatures Previewed at Salute

Pictures of the upcoming metal and plastic Frostgrave miniature range by Northstar Miniatures as previewed on Salute.

In the first two pictures you can see the metal part of the miniature range which will include 10 mages with their apprentices for the ten different magic schools. The metal range will also include specialist soldiers which are not covered by the plastic boxed set named Frostgrave Soldiers. You may also note the treasure markers which will be a freebie during the Nickstarter (Northstar Miniatures' own version of the popular crowdfunding site) when pledging.

In the following pictures you can see the 3-ups of the Frostgrave Soldiers which will be tooled in hard-plastic by Renedra. You can clearly see that these miniatures are intended to represent soldiers in cold weather gear suitable for the barren climate of Frostgrave. Their gear seems to be a mix of different historical cultures as well as fantasy elements.

The variety of options as shown in the pictures are a range of handweapons, shields, crossbows, bows and even other bits such as lanterns and the like. The lower two pictures were taken on the Renedra stand while the other ones were all taken on the Osprey Publishing stand if I'm not mistaken. In the two last pictures you can also see a part of the actual steel production mould which will be used for the creation of the plastic miniatures by Renedra!
