Black Hat Miniatures: 25/28mm Miniature Ranges Sold

Black Hat Miniatures: We have today sold the majority of our 25/28mm ranges to another company. This does not include the 28mm Chinese Fantasy range Tales of the Dragon Kings which we are still producing but does include the following ranges:

- Samurai
- 3 Musketeers
- Gladiators
- Robin Hood
- Shattered Isles Fantasy
- Cobalt-1 Science Fiction
- Mutants and Madmen SF / Superheroes

The new owner is in the process of setting up a new company and will be using these ranges as a basis for this new venture.  As soon as the ranges are available again we will add the information to our website.  As of today all the ranges are marked as out of stock and we can no longer accept orders for them.

This is part of a small change of direction for Black Hat and myself.  I have been running a new Toy Soldier company Imperial Miniatures alongside Black Hat for a while now and am finding that I have been so busy with both ventures that I simply do not have the time to develop new products which is the fun, interesting side of the business. This has meant that Black Hat has suffered as I have not been able to expand ranges. I will now have more time to release the new figures that have been sculpted and moulded for Martian Empires and it will also enable me to have the time to concentrate on and give proper attention to the 15mm ranges, the 54mm Toy Soldiers and the Coat D’arms paint range. Many thanks Mike Lewis

Black Hat Miniatures: 28mm East Asian Painted Plywood Kits

Black Hat Miniatures: Several years ago we supplied some of our Chinese fantasy “Tales of the Dragon Kings” range to Renaissance Miniatures as part of their Kickstarter for a range of East Asian style 28mm plywood buildings.  The Kickstarter was a great success and Renaissance Miniatures went on to produce a whole range of different building kits.

Steve and Renee of Renaissance have decided to close and no longer supply these kits.  We are very pleased to announce that we have licensed the East Asian range of kits to accompany our Tales of the Dragon Kings range and will be producing these in-house in the UK. All the kits are made from lasercut plywood and are supplied painted ready to use after assembly.  They come with removable roofs to allow the insides of the buildings to be used and a full set of instructions for assembly.

The initial releases in the range are:

EA001 – Peasant House  £12
EA002 – Ronin House £14
EA003 – Ornate Bridge - £12
EA004 Arched Bridge - £10

More buildings will follow over the next few months as we sort out the cut files and get everything painted, cut and into stock. Colonel Bill’s will be carrying these buildings at shows and will have these first releases at the Claymore show.

Black Hat Miniatures: 2016 Wargame Plans Revealed - Range Additions Announced

Black Hat Miniatures: A lot of the latter part of 2015 was taken up with work on Imperial Miniatures, my new Toy Soldier company which meant that we didn't release many new items for our own wargaming ranges.

We did, of course, release a lot of new figures for the Unfeasibly Miniatures Exotic Adventures range and there are several packs, vehicles and buildings in the pipeline for that range which will be released over the next few months. Mark @ Unfeasibly also has a new range - The Empire in Peril - planned which we will be releasing as well.

We are finally going to start work on the French for Martian Empires, to complete all the armies in the original rule book. Planning on this is under way at the moment and I am hoping to be able to show some progress in February. I am still undecided whether to fund this through a Kickstarter project (in collaboration with Scale Creep Miniatures) or not - it would enable us to release things faster and make more complete initial release. More news when we have it.

For Martian Empires, we will also be releasing the home service cavalry, and have an imminent release of specialist cavalry for all the earth forces. Our next release in 28mm will be the Martian Traders range for Mutants and Madmen. Samples of the range in this post.

I am currently working through the production moulds for this range. After that, I would like to release some more figures for the WW1 Fantasy range with some Goblins in Gasmasks and a Trench Mortar already planned.

Black Hat Miniatures: Black Hat Price Increase Coming

Black Hat Miniatures: Black Hat Miniatures Price Increase Coming. I have not increased prices of the figure ranges since 2011, while my costs have risen over the last 5 years at a steady rate. Unfortunately that means it is now time to increase some prices.

I am going to be increasing the prices of the 15mm ranges by a fair amount as there have only been two increases since I bought the ranges from Gladiator Miniatures in 2006 and the prices have been lagging behind the rise in production costs for a while now. Infantry/Cavalry will rise to £3 a pack, command will rise to £2 a pack.

Even with the increase to £3 a pack for the basic infantry packs we will still remain some of the cheapest 15mm on the market as we sell 10 figures in a pack for that price, rather than the usual 8 figures meaning we will be 30p a figure against others’ 33p-40p a figure.

There will be other smaller price increases to other ranges and some slight changes in pricing to reduce the number of different price codes to make some ranges more attractive to retailers now I am now longer attending wargaming shows. Because I realise that this is a fairly big jump in price (which should have been staggered over the last 5 years), I am delaying increasing prices until February 1st to give customers a chance to order at the current prices.

Armies Army: 15mm Native Alien Science Fiction Range Acquisition

Armies Army: I'm very pleased to announce that after several months of tense negotiations between representatives of ArmiesArmy and BlackHat Miniatures a deal has been struck for the acquisition of Blackhats 15mm sci range. Given the Global scale and likely investigation by the UK mergers and acquisitions department it might be several minutes before official word is given.

As it happens the molds are in the back of my car after Mike asked if I wanted them! Ill give them a quick sort out tomorrow morning. The lovely little models are just what armiesarmy need for some indigenous species and fit nicely with my Yeti and Raptor like creatures I've been stumbling about with for a while! Here is a few pics of the new ranges. I'll be looking at creating some masters for conversions and give the locals a much needed upgrade in modern simple weaponry. The RUSK AK347 a prime example of point and shoot in any condition!
