Jungle fiever!

Hi, finally I'm posting again! The infamous internet problems are finally solved and the results of my exams were positive! So what have I been doing lately? Well, I was caught by jungle fiever and because of that I constructed more jungletrees and scrubbery! The following jungle pieces were constructed in the same way as described in other posts of the jungle terrain-label. The total construction time of all these bases? Again 1 hour (divided among several days).

Close-up of some of the bases.

Another close-up of the other bases.

All the bases together! With these bases added to the collection I almost have enought jungle to cover my table!

American Airborne Battalion (15-20mm)

Hi, I today's post a new 1/72 battalion accompagnied with some jeep support! The jeeps are old seventies Atlantic jeeps and are upgraded with bits of Airfix. The driver and passengers are made by Airfix. The jeeps were purchased at 0.50 cents a piece at the B&B at Crisis 2009! A real bargain ready to be painted and upgraded.

Here are some new pictures of a new battalion! The battalion is a US airborne battalion which will be used for Normandy, Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. The figures are made by Airfix and were purchased in their D-Day box.

The battalion exists out of

- 1 commander (1 figure)
- 4 squads of 4 bases (32 figures)

The battalion waiting in the paintingline!

Plastic soldiers

Hi, here are some pictures of my ongoing plastic madness. I've been collecting these 1/72 soldiers for 4-5 years know but I've recently started with painting and basing them. What I like on these miniatures, they are relativly cheap and avaible in most modelshops. Because they are so small, they are also easy to paint quickly and build massive armies.

Completed units:

- 3 early war Russian battalions
- 1 mid war USMC battalion
- 1 mid war American battalion
- 1 mid war American navy battalion
- 1 mid war American airborne battalion

Purchased but unassembled:

- 3 early war German battalions
- 2 mid war German fallschirmjaeger battalions
- 1 late war German battalion
- 2 early war Japanese battalions
- 2 mid war Japanese battalions
- 1 mid war Russian battalion
- 2 mid war USMC battalions
- 1 late war American battalion

Units in progress.

Some terrain,...

Hi, here's some progress on my colonial/VSF terrain. Currently I'm building the following terrain pieces:

- British fort
- 3 jungle trees
- Some bushes
- The riversteamer "the queen of Argyll" sandbags and upperdeck added
- Shanty town (15-20mm) now with some hardboard bases

Here's my British colonial fort, the fort is entirely build out of wood. More specified, twigs, wooden sticks and lots of woodchips. The fort is based on a soft sort of hardboard which can easily cut with a metalplier.

The fort isn't based on real colonial forts but is just a kind of blockhouse with an exterior artillery emplacement. The fort exists out of 3 levels, the floor, second level and flat roof of which there are two playable. The exterior artillery emplacement is walled with some twigs I've sawn to the same size.

The basic construction.

The side of the fort with firing holes.

A photo with some plastic 28mm British who are manning the outer defense line of the fort, this place will be used to place some artillery, gardners or gatling guns.

And at last some new jungle trees, you can never have enough of them! Here you can see them in the first fase of construction, twigs just glued to their hardboard base and textured with fine white sand. The most difficult stage of making these trees is to find the right shaped twigs! Now my special twig stash is used up.

Chinese airfix copies: British soldiers

Hi, here's a small review of one of my latests bargains 144, 1/72 soldiers for 20 cents manufactured by Wing Lung. However this price was paid on a local flea market, the retailprice is unknown to me.

But strange is the label of the set "British soldiers" but none of the poses is British! all the miniatures are airfix copies slightly smaller but unnoticable on the wargame table.

The set contains 12 sprues with the following poses:

- 4 German soldier poses
- 5 American marines (some poses are not airfix)
- 3 German paratroopers

The set contains following numbers:

- German soldier poses (48)
- American marines (some poses are not airfix) (60)
- German paratroopers (36)

Here are some pictures of the kit:

Just another bargain waiting be picked up at a flea market! 20 cents unbelievable! What will I do with them? I will make 3 German battalions, 2 marines battalions and 2 german paratrooper battalions! So enought stuff to paint not mentioning my japanese and russians!

Just took the legs, horses, weapons and arms from the ACW kit, the head and the body from wargames factory.

In desperate need of

- Plastic sleeved left arms from Wargames Factory celts.
- Plastic lances and pistol holding right arms Perry Miniatures.
- Plastic heads as shown on the picture Wargames Factory British.
- Wargames Factory Zulu heads with feathers.
