Sad news from Tom Meier over at Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures - We will be closing the online store and not accepting any new orders after Dec 25th of this year. Grab these splendid miniatures while you can here
Tom began sculpting professionally when he was 15 years old. He started modeling in a compound called E-Pox-E Putty, which was new to the market and never used for sculpting at that time. He actually began using it by mistake but found it was very useful in holding high detail on small sculptures. At 16, he started up Ral Partha with partners Jack Hesslebrock, Marc Rubin, Rich Smethurst, Glen Kidd, and Chuck Crain. He was the only sculptor of the Ral Partha line of figures for the first four years, and the main sculptor until 1988.
In 1988, Tom left Ral Partha to start up his own company, Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures. The company was founded to concentrate on high quality new designs and explore different directions in miniatures. He has won numerous awards for sculpting, such as multiple HG Wells award, and he is the only sculptor inducted into the GAMA Hall of Fame. When he is not sculpting, you can find him working in the garden. He lives in Loveland, Ohio with his wife, son, and daughter.
