Just found this announcement from Perry Miniatures: We thought we should give you an update on the forthcoming plastic boxes. Just to let you know that the Desert Rats - British and Commonwealth Infantry 1940-43 - are in tooling. We cannot give a release date as yet, as we wouldn't want to disappoint our customers by missing it, or indeed put Renedra (the tooling company we use) under more pressure! These are 28mm hard-plastic, multi-part figures, as are the Afrikakorps - German Infantry 1941-43 - which will be the next in line for tooling.
Cover art by Peter Dennis.
The Desert Rats (a nickname originally of the 7th Armoured Division, but which became a term to include all those of the Desert Army) are all in shorts, shirt-sleeve order, and helmets, with the option to convert a portion into Long Range Desert Group/SAS. The box will allow you to build a platoon with platoon support and so on, including Bren guns, 2" mortar, and Boys anti-tank rifle.
We also have more EA metals to release this month, in the form of additional Stradiots. These include a code of 'Westernised' Stradiots (i.e., wearing hose and doublet and light armor, but keeping some Balkan elements).
