Been quite a fan of the original Lord of The Rings Skirmish game which accompagnied the first three movies, I'm now witnessing a shameless pricing on the new miniatures that accompagnied the first Hobbit movie "an unexpected journey" which will hit the Belgian cinemas on the 16th of december. My first knowledge of these new releases were the leaked lists from ex gw employees and some current staff members mentionning names as "Escape from Goblin town" and so on. Now several months later, Games Workshop has released their new range. As I don't like their prices but still like some of the miniatures or even the starterset, I decided to make a quick comparison for the Limited starter set between the online sources available. After some searching I decided to compare the prices for UK customers and choose three online stores.
- The first one was Wayland Games which offers the set at £67.70 + £4.41 shipping making a total of £71.91.
- The second store was Total Wargamer offering the set at an attractive £63.75 + £4.99 shipping making a total of £68.74.
- The last store was Games Workshop, the creator and manufacturer of the starter set offering him for £75.00 + free shipping so making a total of £75.00.
As you can see Total Wargamer is for the moment the cheapest source for the limited starterset "Escape from Goblin Town" which he offers for £68.74, where are you waiting for if interested take advantage of this discount while it lasts and pre-order the boxed starterset which includes the following miniatures and pieces:
Interesting boxed set but really worth the money? What do you think of the high pricing and the usage of finecast for other individual releases?

Being an avid fan of the GW LOTR Skirmish , War Of The Ring and Battle of Five Armies I would have a hard time passing this up. But with pricing on it I may have to. I'm not overly impressed with the finecasting, I think it's more of a money making gimmick.
£75 for 56 figures and the rules seems pretty reasonable these days. and of course there will be a hefty premium from the licencing deal that GW have to pass on. Some of their stuff is well over priced, but this seems OK.
Thanks to your effort I put in an order to Total Wargamer. I'm getting it sent to a UK relative who'll be coming Down Under later in the month.
In Australia, this set is $205 (125GBP). And I'm not paying that much.
Yes, it does worth the money! The price is high, but the box includes so many miniatures and useful pieces.
I do not really like finecast releases so far. I hope that in the near future they will improve them.

The price is definitely an issue. Compared to GW's other boxed sets it seems high, I guess GW has passed on the licensing costs to the customer.
Contentwise I think it's very luxirious to get 13 individual sculpts for all the dwarfs, and don't forget Bilbo, Gandalf, Radagast, The Great Goblin and all the scenery pieces included. That is a lot of good quality models.
Worth the price? Only you can decide. Personally I think I'm going to sell one of the kids' kidneys on eBay, because I want this set.

As you say the price is high but the content is nice although I don't like the goblin king and the platform can be easily scratchbuild.
For the people in Australia, a real shame of the excessive prices and the gw boycot luckily you have a uk source!
Reading all your comments I'm really tempted by this boxed set myself, must resist or wait some months for cheap miniatures on ebay!

I hate to say it, but Wayland have a free shipping offer till the 29th, so they would actually be the cheapest option for another 4 days!
