Wargames Factory: British firing line

Today I'm presenting to you fellow wargamers the eagerly awaited review of the Wargames Factory British firing line box! This box has been eagerly awaited by colonial fanatics in an attempt to recreate Rorkes Drift and other major colonial battles with British involvement.

General information

Such as the entire Wargames Factory range, the miniatures inside the box are made of hard plastic and scaled 1/56 which is approximately 28mm. The miniatures inside are colonial British who defended the outer territories of the British Empire throughout most of the Victorian age. The miniatures are dressed and equipped for the Zulu Wars but could be used for the Indian mutiny, Boer wars if you aren't to picky! And if you are a Victorian Science Fiction lover you can simply use them to defend england against prussian invaders and mad scientists! Or use them to crew your huge aeronef fleets!

The box

Such as previously said, the box contains a British firing line existing out of 20 colonial soldiers. These soldiers come with a variety of bodies, arms, heads and headgear, this allows you to create an unique army and the possibility to convert endlessly! The box is made out of sturdy cartonboard and is decorated with some rather nice artwork! Nice boxes to nice to throw away, so I just keep them to storage other wargame stuff! you can never have enought boxes to store stuff! Each box includes 4 identical sprues as shown beneath.

Opinion:

To sum up: a nice box of plastics of which the manufacturer is a real player on the relativly new plastic miniatures wargame business! A result of this new innovation is the possibility to game large scale battles or smaller skirmishes with zulus and colonial British without going bankrupt! With a retailprice of $14.95, €14,90 or £11.50 this box is a real bargain!

On the otherhand there are some minor issues such as the fact that the miniature heads are lacking hair, so you must choose between a helmet or a bald soldiers but you cannot make a soldier with a bare hairy head! Another issue are the huge hands but as said the new boxed set of wargames Factory is worth the money!

@ Sorry, Paul :p
@ ArmChairGeneral: VSF = Victorian science fiction, its an invented era set in the victorian times.

Colonial struggles, war against Prussia and other great nations.

New inventions, like

- Steamtanks
- Lightening canons
- Aeronefs (flying ships)
- Steamwalkers
- ...

Really a nice and attracting period!
