Flags of War: 1745 Jacobite Rebellion - British Government Troops Kickstarter

Flags of War: Flags of War have launched their latest Kickstarter to fund the British Government Troops for the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion. Our aim is to deliver the Government troops for you guys to fight against the Jacobite's. During the 1745 Rising the Government troops varied in experience and by Culloden they seemed to have got past many of the mistakes they had previously made in the field. The campaign aims to bring 7 new packs of Infantry Redcoats to the current range as well as the Duke of Cumberland to lead the army. 

The pledge levels will allow backers to chose how they wish to build their army to fight the Jacobites. We have also set a number of stretch goals that will unlock more packs of figures as well giving backers free packs of figures they can add to their pledge. Check the full Kickstarter here

We are looking to add the Government Infantry, Government Highlanders and Dragoons to the growing range. The Infantry will be dressed in a campaign-style, this is due to the timeline of the Rising ( August 1745 – April 1746) and the type of weather we get in Scotland...it's bloody cold from September to September up here. In the field, my vision of a soldier would be one trying his best to keep warm and not in his parade ground best. This will mean the tails of the infantry jackets are unbuttoned and the breast buttoned up. The Highlanders will be in the plain red coats they wore pre Seven Years war and great Kilt.

Once these have been funded we will be able to focus on the more specialist troops for the period. The aim after this will be to see Artillery for both sides, Jacobite Cavalry, French/Irish Troops along with character pieces to build on the current figures and give extra skirmish poses.

Flags of War: Death of Douglas Vignette Give away!

Flags of War: I have had this beauty for sometime now and after I posted a thank you to David on my personal blog I felt it was about time I gave it away as planned. The vignette depicts the death of Douglas at the battle of Otterburn. The story goes that the Douglas told them to make sure his death wasn't known to the rest of his army. With this order his colours were hoisted high with chants of "Douglas....Douglas.....Douglas" and the Scots went onto win the battle. The pictures don't do full justice to it and I only wish I could keep it. I asked David with the help of Andrew Taylor to paint me this just before Christmas and had planned to give it away in Feb but just hadn't got round to it.

To be in with a chance of getting this giveaway, any order over £5 excluding delivery between 29/04/12 and 31/05/13 will be entered into the draw. I felt this the best way to do as to get such an item would cost a fair amount to be painted by two of the best painters in the Wargames scene.
