Russian Cossack battalion

Hi, here's some progress on one of my 1/72 Cossack battalions! I finally managed to partially paint the horses. I've painted the horses in 4 different colors: black, brown, dark brown and dark grey. the riders are still on sprue and the other horses are waiting to be painted.

The battalion in battle formation.

Close up of some of the horses. I'm not sure about the white saddlebags but I needed some contrast? Any ideas?

Another close up. The saddles and strappings still need painting!

I hope you enjoy this new post!

Russian Cossack battalions

Hi, here's some progress I've made with my 1/72 Russian army! This time I will be focussing on 2 Cossack battalions made out of Revell miniatures. I always wanted to build and paint these units and now I have the opportunity. Today I managed to unsprue, clean and base the horses for the 2 battalions, I also managed to texture 1 battalion with filler (not visible on the pictures).

Each battalion exist:

- 1 mounted commander (1 figure)
- 1 dismounted cossack with horse (1 figure)
- 15 bases (each with 1 mounted figure)

(The dismounted base will probably be used as dismounted marker when I find some dismounted Cossacks)

The horses for the 2 battalions!

The riders still on sprue but already cleaned up.

I haven't got much hobby time recently but I hope you enjoy the rather few posts.

Russian hordes!

Hi, here's a new post about some of my 20mm figures. This time painted and based Russians.
The soldiers seems to be chinese copies of airfix kits but I don't know which illegal manufacturer precisely?

But if somebody knows whichs figures these are and were to purchase let me know.

The 3 battalions exists of

- 1 commandbase (2 figures)
- 4 squads of 4 bases (32 figures)

A total of 102 figures

Russian battalions (15-20mm)

Here are my cheap Russians again! I think they are some cheap chinese copies of some brand but I don't know the Chinese manufacturer. But here they are rebased on 3mm hardboard-squares.

Battalion exist of

- 1 commandbase (2 figures)
- 4 squads of 4 bases (32 figures)
- 3 (maybe 4) heavyweapon bases (3 machineguns) (=6 figures)

Total= 40 figures or 21 bases

So, 3 battalions x 40 figures = 130 figures or 63 bases!

One of the three battalions. (heavyweapons still needed to be assembled and painted).
