Warlord Games: World War Two Italians!

Warlord Games has done the following interesting things: We’ve remastered our Italian Army range and given them the Figure Head treatment. Now we’re ready to release them back into the wild…

The core of the army is the 10-man squad. Based around a 2-man Breda LMG team, the squad is led by an NCO and supported by 7 riflemen. With a mix of helmets and sidecaps your squads should all look different – especially as there are multiple variants for each troops type (you’ll receive a random selection form 4 different NCOs, 2 different LMG teams and 11 different riflemen!). Don’t worry – there is plenty more on the way for Il Duce’s lads over the next few weeks and months – guns, vehicles, more infantry and more troops types!

Why haven't they got their arms in the air? And no white flags?

Wouldn't be so useful in wargaming scenario's me thinks. But overall some Italian units have shown some great courage and skill during the war although often been outgunned massivly by the allies.

A fair point - I was being a bit tongue in cheek. The main problem the Italians had was terrible tanks and bad leadership.

We did a WW2 desert battle a few months ago. Italians and Germans vs. Austalians and Indians. The Germans folded within a couple of turns but the Italians stayed in the battle and won a victory with literally the last shot. So I have a new respect for them now.

The desert game sound great do you have any pictures?

The Italians had indeed very lightly armed and armoured "tankettes".

And as you say they probably didn't won as many battles as they could due to bad leadership and extremely badly executed foreign campaigns such as Russia, what a fail.

No to mention their low production of weaponry, ammo and other necessary supplies to keep them equiped and fully manned.

Cheers

I already have a bunch of the Bolt Action Italian Paratroopers and I have been looking at picking up a force of regular infantry.

The Italians are the ideal multi use WWII gaming army. They fought in North Africa,The Balkans, Eastern and Western front. They fought on both the Axis and Allied sides.

Never thought of that before thanks for sharing, they are probably one of the more generic forces available as their equipment did not changed much from campaign to campaign.

I Think? Not sure though, if they look well they can certainly be used everywhere. :)

Cheers!
