New books!

Hi, Today I've visited a large bookfestival in the nearby city of Kortrijk. Walking through halls of books and other general hobbystuff. I stumbled onto some treasures!

First of all 2 spearhead-books from Osprey I think, one about the leibstandarte-division and one about the grossdeutschland-division. Lots of other ospreys over there: spanish main, russian fortresses, napoleonic infantry in the balkan,... and the best of all the books, 3.95 euros a piece!

I also bought a small but good book about the German campaign in Russia, a real good sunmary with lots of photo's and technical details about units and vehicles.

As last I bought a modern fantasy-book "armegeddon's children" or something it's about a post-apoc world were the survivors live in fortified compounds! Inspiration for my chaos on the red planet clan-villages? :p

O, I bought also 400 wooden frisco-sticks. Purpose unknown? Fortress? Bridges? Fences? ...

It was a nice event since it was located 100 meters from my college!

Le retour des dieus!

Hi, here's a new post for my chaos on the red planet setting. I've recently purchased a new beastie for the planetary penalty colony probably it will be used as some sort of military experiment as the planet do not houses this kind of aliens. The alien is of the manufacturer/serie "le retour des dieus" or "the return of the gods"! Crisp details and easy to assemble, the way I love them! However on the photo I still not have cut of the mouldline on the beasties chin :S

With the purchase of this alien, I know have the feeling that I also need to build some sort of scientifical center or lab!

I have also started with some sort of small ventilation hut with 2 ventilationvans? As part of a mining complex of which I will build 2 entrances and maybe some transportbands. I've also started to work on 2 watchtowers which will be simple but sci-fi looking.

So stay tuned more will follow in the coming days/weeks!

Old abandoned hangar (28mm)

Hi, here's a post about one of my more recent project: an abandoned hangar. The main idea was to build some sort of old airfield hangar but after all I decided to build a more generic type of hangar. So it could be used in more than one setting which is always handy for somebody who loves all periods. However the hangar will be mostly used in an sci-fi setting due to scale and usability.

The frame of the hangar was constructed with bits of wood so I had a sturdy basic shape from which I could work out the hangar. After I builded the basicframe I covered it with some other thinner strips of wood.

The entrance to the hangar. Aftre the basic hangar was ready I covered the entire building with some cheap corrugated cartonboard I had found on the attic (still enough to build 10 of these hangars and enought other and sturdier corrugated cartonboard to build another 5!).

After the corrugated cartonboard was glued on the structure, I painted the entire piece. Be carefull when painting cartonboard, everything was very soft and began to came loose. (luckily it had a battered look when dry!).

The backside and roof of the structure.

Some holes in the rooftop. These were created when the cartonboard was soft and easy to shape.

Another shot of the building with an 28mm figure for scale.

On the paintingtable! Kallistra miniatures

Hi, here's another post this time I took some picture of the place where I spend the least hours of my hobby: the actual painting. just because I spend so few painting I don't have hordes of painted mini's (with exception of 1/72 stuff).

My workingspace alias kitchentable.

My paints and washes not much but just enough to do much of the paintjobs.

Brushes and other stuff (cluther).

Miniatures in progress and still bare miniatures.

The 3 figures which will be next onto the paintingdesk: Kallistra scavanger and cop, unknown robot.

So to reach my goals I installed a paintingscheme on my blogs frontpage's right uppercorner so I can watch every time I blog how many units and figures I actually painted this year; currently only 4 28mm figures!

Fantasy stone army

I'm finally posting again, this time my post will tell you more about my small stone army! When surfing on the web I bounced on an article of Matakishi's Tea House about a cheap and fun way to create a wargame army.

The original army on the Matakishi's Tea House site looks much better and is more specialised with even artillery and heroes!

So of I went gathering stones from the local parkingplace and searching some right size bases from my basepile!

Some painting later I had an small army both original and cheap.

Sorry for the blurry photo's, I was a bit hasty! But it gives you a good overall impression of the Da rock army :p

The giant, lurker/scout and 2 footsoldier bases.

The eyes were created by using tipp-ex and a fine black marker.

Ral partha monster!

Hi, here's a new miniature I bought from Ral partha (name unknown). This miniature will be used in some pulp and VSF games as some sort of monster that will inhabited a desolate and harsh place.

When I took a closer look I found out that this monster who was to be ment in a game to be a watermonster had hooves! So I change the plans and use of the miniature to some sort of minotaur who will inhabited a vaste cave complex or a labyrinth (kind of knossos).

The miniature (the arms are not glued just put onto the figure and they fit exactly!)

Another shot of the miniature.

Weaponset which was included in the blister.

I hope you enjoyed the post!

Many thanks!

Hi, everybody!

I just saw that I had 30 followers and wanted to thank everybody who has visited my blog during his 10 months of existence! I hope that many months and followers may follow!

Watching my stats I found out that I had visitors from all over the world! From Poland (Yori, masterpainter in 1/72 scale and many other Polish) to New Zealand and from the UK to the USA! To my surprise even from Afghanistan and South Africa! So thanks and greets to the international wargame community. My goal is to get a steady flow of 2000 visitors a month! I hope this isn't a too great goal!

I also wanted to thank, the guys in my bloglist and the LAF-forum for the inspiration they give me! (sometimes a bit to much I have 4-5 projects running :p).

So another great thank,

Greets, I hope you enjoy my blog!

Native forts (28mm)

Hi, here are some pictures of my native forts in progress. They will be used in a VSF or darkest Africa setting.

They aren't finished yet (just managed to do the basic shape). I'm planning to build on top of the earthen dike a stone/mud wall with shootingholes and defensive platforms. I always work in pairs so I decided to also build 2 of these forts which will fit with my jungleterrain.

The bases are large MDF circles and the dikes are made out of polystryn covered with PVA, sand and paint.

A picture of the fort with an 28mm figure.

I hope hope you enjoyed this short and hasty written post.

Fantasy mansion (28mm)

Hi, here's another terrainproject which accompanied my fantasy cottages however this mansion isn't finished yet I wanted to share it on my blog.

It's build the same way as the cottages but on a bigger scale:

1) Cartonboard structure.
2) Adding carton stones (and rooftiles not ready yet see the cottages).
3) Add doors, other details and the windows.
4) Add woodwork.
5) Add filler as some kind of claywork between the planks.
6) Paint!

Links to the cottages:
