Commando Miniatures: Military Working Dogs have a long and distinguished history in the armed services of many countries. During the de-colonisation period the British Army and RAF used dogs extensively for tracking and patrolling.
Dogs were used in Aden, Cyprus, Borneo and other locations and often added to reconnaissance teams. We are therefore pleased to add this valuable resource to our list of British units.
The team consists of two dog handlers, one with a lunging Alsatian*, the other kneeling with his faithful Labrador. The handlers are armed with the lightweight Armalite AR15 rifle of which the British Army bought 40,000 in the 1960s for use by RM Commandos, Paratroops, SAS, Gurkhas and other troops needing a lighter firearm than the standard SLR.
