Colossosimus Rex: Interesting Giant Ape Indiegogo Launched

Colossosimus Rex: I am excited to present to you my project to produce a range of 28 mm Colossosimus rex giant apes to adorn your tabletops and dioramas. The entry level model is a female giant ape clutching her infant. She accompanies my already produced male giant ape which is also offered as a perk.

I have always been inspired by the world of King Kong. I want to share with you my childhood dream to immerse myself in the world that Kong originates from. This giant ape troop would be the entry point into a universe inspired by King Kong, Tarzan, and The Lost World. I want you to immerse yourself in the experience of discovery and wonder. Imagine being a colonial explorer deep inside a steamy, twisted jungle within an uncharted land. As you venture deeper into the misty green you become awestruck as you encounter a troop of giant apes, males as big as bull African elephants, females the size of cow Indian elephants, juveniles the size of brown bears, and infants as large as human adults.

If successful this will be just an entry point into other projects to populate this mysterious land. Envision a world where both prehistoric and modern day animals live side by side. You could see bull elephant confronting a tyrannosaurus...tigers vs. raptors... I want to state that this is not a business. This is a hobby. When I thought of making it a business I ran into too many issues concerning profit margins, sustainability, and overall business viability.

Resin miniatures are not cheap to make and the profit margins are not great. However when I treat this as a hobby (I earn my money elsewhere) the only issue to overcome is market demand and production costs. I do not have to consider profit at all. The $1000 goal will cover the costs of sculpting, molding, and casting the female Colossosimus rex.

I will offer these models to you at cost. They will be a limited edition run. Only 30 models of the first and subsequent sculpts will be offered. When you pledge you will be receiving an item that is special and unique at a very fair cost. I have commitment from the sculptor of my first ape Jason Wiebe to sculpt the female and any subsequent members of the troop. I have worked with Valiant Studios for resin casting. Both outside partners have been great to work with. However, sometimes production schedules can be delayed. If production is delayed and delivery cannot be met for the first female ape by April I will communicate this through updates.
