Hi, I just found this interesting starter set from Warlord Games called Assault on Normandy and decided to take the time to post it on my blog. Here's some more information from the Wayland Games website:
"Assault on Normandy is the starter set for Bolt Action from Warlord Games. This Boxed Set contains everything you need to get started recreating the battles of World War Two on the tabletop.Pit your wits and your tactical know-how against an opponent with an easy to learn rules system which allows you to recreate the action from any theatre of war - from Winter in the depths of the Ardennes, to the shores of the Pacific, and the shattered ruins of Stalingrad. With 40 plastic miniatures provided as well as terrain to fight over, 8 orders dice and of course the Bolt Action Rulebook, Assault on Normandy is a great starting point for anyone looking to try their hand at 28mm historical gaming. "
To be honest first of all I was quite interesting in this set but after seeing the content I must say I'm disappointed about the quantity of miniatures. I had expected to have at least one type of vehicle either a sherman or german half track but no sign of that. The set only contains the hefty Bolt Action rulebook and 40 plastic miniatures some may think well that's ok for £54.00 at Wayland Games but I think it's to much for a starterset with only a bunch of plastic infantry. I would have preferred a cheaper alternative rulebook and at least some vehicles and more specialist units so you can play some interesting scenarios as you now only recieve some basic infantry.
This is my opinion but what do you think is this good value for your money or would you prefer the Flames of War starter set for £45.00?
