Bargain time!

Hi, I wanted to show you some of my latest bargains!

Luck or fate?

First of all some background, I've been visiting a hobby shop for a while now which is located in Oudenaarde nothing special as the shop only sells all sorts of hobby materials for scrapbooks, sewing and painting but noting wargame related. But somehow I always manage to buy some materials from brushes to moss! I heard that the shop was moving towards another location and all the products in the shop were selling at 50%!

I immediatly visited the shop (well, after a week or so) and was rather disappointed as the shop was almost empty, just some shelves with all sorts of stuff to make flower decorations and some baskets with rubbish. But when I looked at the baskets I saw a tip of an warhammer box under some bags of pins and buttons! I immediatly searched the baskets and found the following boxes.
  • Lord of the rings Balrog retailprice €50
  • Space marine tactical squad retailprice €30
  • Battle of skull pass painting set retailprice €22,50
I knew the real prices but none were shown on the boxes, so I asked the shop owner the price. he said €2 a box! Now that's a discount, I always wanted a Balrog but wasn't willing to pay €50!

Happy like a child I left the shop

Secondhand stores they rock!

Another bargain was when I visited a secondhand store! Searching through the endless mountains of kitch and rubbish, I found a bag with in each 10 tins of humbrol paints! The price €1 for 10 tins! Yes, another bargain. Will check that store more often!

Another story which happened a year ago, visting a secondhand store with my brother we stumbled upon a Lord of The Rings mumakill! Well my little brother did and he bought the beast which was a bit damaged and was missing parts of his howdah for only €1,5! Retailprice €65!

Tips for cheap wargaming!

1) Hobby stores!
2) Secondhand stores!
3) Flea markets!
4) The internet, pity of the high postage costs!

Do you have stumbled upon cheap wargame stuff? Tell us about your bargains!

Thanks to Santyago, Remco de Groot from http://sjemco.blogspot.com/ and Wardy-la from http://bytheordersofthegreatwhitequeen.blogspot.com/ and another dozen of blogs!

You did some nice bargains indeed :-d

Last year at Crisis in Antwerp I found about 200 original Atlantic figures (romans, christians and gladiators, greek, egyptian) and payd 15 euro for them. And this year a hobby shop around here stopped and I bought some GW paint and some boxes of LOTR all with minus 60%.

Greetings

I've found some real bargains at the flea market: I bought 3 tanks, 1 roman infantry box and 2 ww1 planes (all in 1/72 scale) at 12.30€ (60€ at the shop... more or less).
I also bought 2 humvee (28mm compatible) for 1€ each.
You just have to be patient and wait for the nice things to show at the right price.

@Andy, I'm luckier than lucky? :p These bargains will not be painted in the near future as the space marine squad was traded for some LOTR orcs and I'm currently painting up my third french napoleonic battalion!
