Perry Miniatures: Plastic Napoleonic Peninsular War Spanish Infantry Preview

Perry Miniatures: We can now announce the new plastic set Alan has been working on…well, two sets actually! Spanish Napoleonic Infantry (1) marching and Spanish Napoleonic Infantry (2) Firing Line. Both these are from the first half of the Peninsular War….

Box (1) will allow you to build a battalion in either formal marching poses or all in enroute casual marching poses. Line Infantry, Provincial Militia, half a battalion of Grenadiers (or the first battalion) and elements of Light Infantry will all be represented in this box.

Box (2) will allow you to build a battalion in a firing line. Line Infantry, Provincial Militia, half a battalion of Grenadiers (for the 1st battalion) and Light Infantry will all be represented in this box. Shakos for the 1st Cazadores de Barcelona as well as some for the 1st Cazadores de Cataluña.

In both sets there will be a wide selection of headgear including bicornes, grenadier fur caps, shakos as bonnet de police as well as civilian headgear (the latter in Box 1). Both sets are designed to be completely compatible and can create many varied poses from units standing or marching casually, advancing formally, firing line and skirmishing.

Greatcoats, cloaks and blankets either rolled or thrown casually over knapsacks are separate to allow you to show a varied campaign look or all left off, either packed inside the knapsack or left with the baggage. More greatcoats, cloaks and blankets if you need them are on separate arms where they are thrown over muskets or shoulders.

The legwear on all the figures is varied to reflect the wear and tear of official uniforms and use of civilian items. The command frame along with the additional head frame will be sold separately when the box is released. The command frame will have two 4 figure commands (8 in all) one advancing the other standing for the firing line, so you’ll have a few spares for other things.

The Spanish head frame could be quite useful for a few things. There are 8 bicorne heads and 6 heads with French M1805 Light Infantry shakos with side plumes and lozenge shaped plates (as used by the 1st Cazadores de Cataluña). The bicorne heads could be used for other countries including French from 1805-09 as can the shakos.

The command frame is being tooled at the moment, but the first three frames are done and shown here along with a few samples. Alan has a fifth frame (which and will come out later in the year) in tooling connected with these, but that will be announced later…. Renedra have done a great job tooling these and all being well, these will be out at Salute and will be on general sale along with the command and head frames from Perry Miniatures the week after.
