Perry Miniatures: New metal Duchy of Warsaw! This is the first batch of metals for this range which are all Foot artillery. These are sold with separate guns as the Poles used early Prussian, Austrian and French pieces. The next batch will be Uhlans which will be available in a week’s time. Alan has also started on some metal command figures as you can see.

Daniel's Games Emporium: In this gridded-layout miniature wargame, you take the role of a medieval king, bishop, lord, or commander leading your army on the battlefield. You must choose where and how to focus your troops' actions and control the battle’s impetus. The battle is partly fought on the tabletop like other miniature wargames but is also fought just as hard on the Tactics Chart, providing an additional mind-game against your opponent.
Command your units to move and fight in the areas of the battlefield you wish, but leave the actual process of fighting to your unit commanders. This is represented by the random factor of dice and each of your units’ abstract but often-decreasing Battle Rating. Because of this, your focus is kept where it should be – out-thinking your opponent by using superior tactics and exploiting their weaknesses on the battlefield.
Arrowstorm is not intended as a heavy simulation of medieval warfare but as an enjoyable, simple, and fast-playing battle game. You’ll find that much of the action is stylized and streamlined. Don’t think of “turns” in the usual wargaming way – in each turn your units may fight or move several times, countered by your opponent after every action, creating a very fluid game but at the same time making cohesive planning difficult to achieve. Please note that Arrowstorm shares the same basic rules with my Age of Penda book. Period-specific troop types, army lists, special rules, and minor rules differences exist. Victrix: New Plastic Medieval Islamic Heavy Cavalry Preview
Victrix: New Medieval Range Renders: Islamic Heavy Cavalry! Here we have the first renders of rider figure 1 and the 4 horses for our upcoming Islamic heavy cavalry set. These are going to represent the Seljuk and Syrian heavy cavalry of the 12th to 13th Centuries. There will be a mix of armour styles of mail and lamellar and varying helmets from all enclosing mail hoods with elaborate spiked helmets to open faced helmets with turbans.
The bow cases and arrow quivers will be optional as Arab heavy cavalry did not use the bow but Seljuk Askaris did. There will be a few bow firing arms included as well as swords, spears, lances, axes and maces. Seljuk Turks formed a large proportion of any Amir’s household troops in Syria and Egypt and so we will be including some Seljuk heads with their distinctive hair in three braids, two to the side of the head and one down the back. We have included the Seljuk fur cap called the Sharbush worn by Chieftains and apparently Saladin wore one over the top of his helmet or mail hood.
Swords will be a mix of the straight bladed type but also the curved sabre and there will be plenty of shield options. For further flexibility you will be able to combine a lot of the heads, shields and weapons from this set with the very versatile Norman cavalry set to create some more varieties of Arab cavalry. Islamic armies made great use of captured Crusader armour, weapons and shields so there is no reason a Norman cavalry figure with the addition of a turbaned head, Islamic shield and weapon arm could not ride along in your Fatamid Egyptian cavalry units. Islamic rider 2 is well under way and we expect to finish sculpting these in the next 3 weeks.
