Earth of the 1950s. Only a handful of years ago the world was at war and threatened with fearsome destruction. Its people tread into the dangerous realm of powers heretofore untried and unimaginable, poised on the brink of annihilation. But then, something amazing and quite unexpected happened.
Beings from another planet, attracted by power unleashed during the Trinity atomic test, chose to investigate the world of men. The discovery of the existence of extraterrestrials had a profound effect on Mankind, resulting in a halt to world conflict and inspiring peace among the peoples of Earth. These amicable otherworldly engineers, called Illyrians, assisted humans in directing their energies and imaginations toward the betterment of all and enabled Earth to enter a much larger future, taking its place among the Galactic Council of Worlds. The joyous birth of humanity's unity and the amazing advancement of technologies beyond humankind's wildest dreams were unfortunately overshadowed by the perils their new found allies faced. Counterblast is an adventure battle game set in an alternate Earth future past where humans join forces and technologies with several alien species to protect freedom throughout the Milky Way galaxy, particularly a region of space known as the Outer Reaches.
