Old abandoned hangar (28mm)

Hi, here's a post about one of my more recent project: an abandoned hangar. The main idea was to build some sort of old airfield hangar but after all I decided to build a more generic type of hangar. So it could be used in more than one setting which is always handy for somebody who loves all periods. However the hangar will be mostly used in an sci-fi setting due to scale and usability.

The frame of the hangar was constructed with bits of wood so I had a sturdy basic shape from which I could work out the hangar. After I builded the basicframe I covered it with some other thinner strips of wood.

The entrance to the hangar. Aftre the basic hangar was ready I covered the entire building with some cheap corrugated cartonboard I had found on the attic (still enough to build 10 of these hangars and enought other and sturdier corrugated cartonboard to build another 5!).

After the corrugated cartonboard was glued on the structure, I painted the entire piece. Be carefull when painting cartonboard, everything was very soft and began to came loose. (luckily it had a battered look when dry!).

The backside and roof of the structure.

Some holes in the rooftop. These were created when the cartonboard was soft and easy to shape.

Another shot of the building with an 28mm figure for scale.

Greets,

This looks great. It will make a nice objective or a place to put your motorpool.

Thanks, I think it will be used as part of a scavenge of clan settlement in my chaos on the red planet (2225) setting.

I'm planning to build some crazy vehicles like in mad max for cruising the barren wastes of the red planet!

(truckpart are found and scavenged recently from the attic :p)

I like it! Looks very realistic. I'm waiting for mad max vehicles. I hope that I'll find some inspirations for my Gorkamorka scratch-building. This hangar is an inspiration. I want more :)
