Spiral Arms Studios: Maelstrom's Edge Kickstarter - More Miniatures and Big Alien Previewed

Spiral Arms Studios: We at Dakka have been working extremely hard on our own tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge. It is currently on kickstarter, and has fully funded and will be coming to market soon! We wanted to take a moment to share a few of the latest, exciting updates with you, so thanks for reading this!

We've just added another big model - The Karist Angel and one of the world's leading sci-fi authors, Alastair Reynolds, has been confirmed as working on a story for Maelstrom's Edge. Learn more about that and the other prominent sci-fi authors working on Maelstrom's Edge on the Kickstarter.

We've added a big section showing the sort of cool stuff that can be made with our plastic terrain sprue. If the game and models have not caught your interest yet, then check out some of the great sci-fi buildings you can make, which are scale compatible with any 28-32mm tabletop wargame. The terrain can be bought on its own if you dont want anything else, at just $12 for a huge plastic sprue of terrain elements.

Another big update was the reveal of our supplementary card game, giving you something to draw in the MTG players at your local game store, and give you a way to enjoy the Maelstrom's Edge universe while you are waiting for a gaming table to become available, or in a location for a full wargame is not possible such as pubs, waiting rooms, etc.

Finally, we are adding an entire extra sprue of models to the boxed set, as voted for by our backers. If you've missed it then please check out our professionally produced audiobook which is currently free for download for anyone, until the kickstarter ends in less than 7 days! You can download "Maelstrom's Edge: Transit" right now. The pace is designed to compliment casual activities such as painting models, driving, jogging and so forth, so grab it today before it disappears, and enjoy!

Next, we've revealed the Epirian Scarecrow model. This robot is just over human height, and is a retrofitted area denial machine. Typically they would protect large tracts of land for landowners, but the Epirian Foundation has refitted many of them to be weapons of war, equipped with a powerful Maglock Railrifle and Chemtek system. The model itself is incredibly poseable, and we highly recommend you take a look at the sprue pictures and read about what makes the construction and pose options quite special compared to the average plastic kit!

Finally, we present our first revealed diorama, showing just how flexible our plastic models are. Everything you see, from the models to the terrain is included in the kickstarter, and it is all 100% sprue-based real plastic so is very easy to cut up, play with, etc. We'll share diorama within the next few days.

Lastly, here's a reminder of just how much stuff we are cramming in to the boxed set now!

Thanks for your support - we appreciate that we are pushing this pretty hard through Dakka and your support is everything to us. Maelstrom's Edge has been a project of passion for us over the past three years, and will be for many years to come, and we hope that we'll capture your interest if we've not already done so! Less than 7 days remain, so if you want to get in on this, then now's the time because we'll be taking care of our backers before we go to general availability.
