Just found this excellent Colony 87 kickstarter by Jon Boyce, I really like the miniatures but sadly to expensive for me: Humanity has reached the stars and settled across the galaxy; planets wrestle with exploding populations. Humans can be found on temperate agri-worlds, sweating factory-worlds and harsh fringe colonies. All-powerful Governors create personal fiefdoms, monopolising local trade and industry, while smugglers and black-marketeers seek to evade the iron fist of officialdom. Colony 87 is just one of a million such worlds.
The aim of this project is to produce a brand new range of six 28mm scale sci-fi civilian miniatures for use in RPGs and tabletop wargames. The figures have been designed with a retro sci-fi aesthetic by fantasy illustrator Will Beck and sculpted by ace figure designer Michael Anderson. The figures are roughly 28mm to the eye (with some variation across the range) and have been traditionally sculpted. They will be mastercast in resin and rubber moulded and production cast in metal by Pete 'The Mouldmaker' Brown.
This kickstarter will enable the figures to be mastered and production moulded, which will otherwise be unlikely to happen. This kickstarter is limited to the six figures shown above. Will and Michael are primed to produce more figures for the range (such as workers, petty officials and criminal classes), although scheduling means we won't be able to add to the range as part of this kickstarter - any future figures would be likely to be sculpted towards the end of 2015 and would be a separate project.
