Create Your Minis: Creating and Printing Your Own Miniature, Full Design Walkthrough

Just received a message from Michel of the new French company named Create Your Minis which allows you to create and print your own miniature characters. The company has recently launched an easy to use website on which you can design your own miniatures by selecting numerous parts of the such as the body type, clothing, weapons, equipment, body pose and so on. You will need to create an account but you only need to enter your email adress and a password so it won't take more than a minute. By creating this account you can also save your miniatures and share them with your friends.

The first step of the character creation is choosing what gender of miniature you want create, for this first step I opted to create a male character. Next to choosing the creation of a character you can also decide to create a weapon or equipment sprue but during this article we will focus on the character creation. Then you can choose a fiiting head from a nice selection of heads including cyborg, human and zombie heads. The humans heads come in a wide variety of facial expressions and hair types. Then you have to choose a body type as I went for a human head, I selected the human body type.

During the next step you can choose your clothing and armor. I have decided to create an armored fantasy character carrying a sword as secondary weapon. After finishing this step I have generated a preview of the model. It already looks great but I still have to add more equipment, weapons and decide on the final body pose.

During the next step you can add a good amount of equipment to the characters' belt or upper legs from a small range of bags, flasks and grenades. The following step is where you can add some headwear to your character ranging from medieval helmets to modern and science fiction along with some glasses. After these steps I generated another preview to check the look of the character. Awesome, now up to choosing his main weapons and the final body type!

Now you can choose the weapons for your character from a whole range of weapons which are a mix of modern, science fiction and historical weapons (medieval weaponry such as spears, mace, flails, swords, ..). The modern and science fiction weapons are a nice mix of firearms such flamethrowers, shotguns, rifles, assault rifles and even a chainsword! Then I decided the pose of the weapons and the body. Now your model is finished, dead simply and quite fun!

As you can't print your model yet, I can only point you towards the upcoming kickstarter page which shows some examples of printed models along with information about the price of printing your models (see the kickstarter pledges but around €5.00 for a printed character, sounds great!).

Looks like the future of miniature making in my opinion and I'm already looking forward in seeing more bits and weapons being added, Maybe even the choice of a mount would be totally cool. Another great use for this type of miniature creation is to create your favorite RPG character in a wide variety of poses and types of equipment! Check the preview kickstarter page here and prepare for the start by creating some characters!
