Wayland Games: Second Brick and Mortar Gaming Venue Announced

Wayland Games: For the past eighteen months we have been hard at work developing our Wayland Games Centre programme. Following on from our successful gaming venue in Hockley, Essex we are proud to announce that we will soon be opening the second Wayland Games Centre. Our new store will be in neighbouring Southend-on-sea in Essex. We are keen to bring to the High Street the wide range of brilliant games we see out there to a wider audience.

We want it to be a place people can come to discover all kinds of great games. It needs to set the standard for all that is great about independent hobby centres on the high street. At a Wayland Games Centre there is a whole host of great reasons to pay them a regular visit. We want to be a place you can feel comfortable in coming to for advice when it comes to looking for new games, learning a new hobby technique or just soaking in the atmosphere after a hard day at work! We have a range of demonstration games for you to try from the well-known like Warhammer 40,000 and Warmachine to those that you might have always wanted to know more about like Infinity, Malifaux and Bolt Action. For the sci-fi fans out there we have the likes of Star Wars X-Wing and Star Trek Attack Wing. For fans of large scale battles we have great games such as Flames of War and Dropzone Commander. This is the perfect place to explore or even discover your gaming tastes!

But for many the Wayland Games Centres will be a place to enjoy a game with friends and our stores have a range of full-sized tables for you to battle on. Another great benefit to visiting a Wayland Games Centre will be not just the friends you bring with you, but the new friends you'll make there! Suddenly all your old tactics become new and untested to a whole range of new people. But enough about the Wayland games Centres in general. When it comes to opening a brand new state of the art hobby centre in Southend-on-sea who could successfully run such a place?

We've been fortunate enough to recruit the talented Daren Mcaninch as our new Store Manager. Daren brings to our Southend store over 20 years of hobby experience and throughout which he has been involved with the local community, introducing many people to the world of gaming and helping others develop their hobby skills. Daren is an avid gamer with almost every Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 army, although he's particularly fond of his Undead and Dark Angels armies. He also has 6 factions for Warmachine & Hordes. He literally has everything for Star Wars X-Wing! He runs a Dragyri Ice Caste for Dark Age, as well as a "Dark Debts" Neverborn crew in Malifaux. He's just bought into Infinity with a Combined Army Starter Set and is eagerly waiting to play the Zombicide board game for the first time. To say that Daren is champing at the bit to get the new store opened is an understatement.

We are planning the grand opening of our Wayland Games Centre in Southend-on-sea for early autumn. There is a new Facebook page to keep track of the latest developments and it’s a great opportunity to chat to Daren yourselves before he opens the doors to a whole new world of gaming for everyone to enjoy.
