Ironheart Artisans: Our North African Terrain Range Launches Now!

Ironheart Artisans: We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new North African terrain line. Originally designed for the “Guns of April” Napoleon in Egypt game held at AdeptiCon 2014 – where over 60 buildings created an historical representation of urban Alexandria.

The development of this line of buildings drew heavily from firsthand visits to various locations through out Egypt, that inspired these highly detailed buildings. While much of the architecture of the region is simple and “boxy”, we felt that by echoing the intricate ornamental patterns found on even the simplest of houses, we would add a great deal of interest throughout the range. From the mud-brick adobes to the ornate mansion, all of the buildings in the range have fully accessible interiors with removable roofs – some even have internal staircases. Even the intricate interior floor details vary with the style of the building. All the windows are fully cut through to allow clear line of sight for your brave miniature warriors to take full advantage of.

Designed with the gamer in mind, these kits go together quickly and use layering (of the MDF sheets) to give the impression of stone or mud brick walls. Also the breakable bits have been kept to a minimum to reduce the chances of breakage we all are familiar with during regular game play. This layering also allows the kits to be easily spray painted (or airbrushed) as parts, with very little masking needed. Then, as you start to assemble the kits, they come to life and all the overspraying or outside-the-lines brushwork is hidden by the exterior layers. Almost all of the examples of finished buildings shown on the site were assembled and painted by Robert Chandler and Dave Taylor. Please bear in mind that some of the painted examples were prototypes and the unpainted, assembled kits represent exactly how the final kits that we ship will appear. So, take a few minutes to look through our wide range of new products in the Terrain section.
