VSF-project: Legion Africanus

Hi, here are some pictures of my members of the Legion Africanus which will be used as a sort of elite unit within the native force.

How the natives found the Roman armor?

"... three Roman legions led by consul Antonius Marcabo have succesfully conquered and captured the native capital of Mbuij Mayi, the spoils of war were great and praised by every soldier!...

Dozens of infidel temples were looted, thousands of houses were burned down, Roman rule was installed throught out the African kingdom!

Every day countless caravans of slaves loaded with loot were leaving the African kingdom heading for Rome...

But 3 years after the succesfull conquest of Mbuij Mayi, rumors of rebellion were spread! The son of the former king of Mbuij Mayi was gathering an army near the capital. Thousands, hundred of thousands native warriors were gathering, weapons were made, warsongs were sung!

The Romans now aware of the danger immediately sent out 3 legions of roman citizens, 2 hastly recruited legions of Roman colonials and 4 legions recruited among the African population.

Thinking of an easy victory they eagerly marched to the battlefield! What followed was a great disaster: the legions were scattered and destroyed by the immense African hordes.

Now the African soldiers were the looters and the surving Roman soldiers the slaves! ...

The Roman emperor enraged by this defeat destroyed every evidence of his failed colonial adventure. He ordered to destroy every monument dedicated to the great conquest of Mbuij Mayi and silenced every surving soldier or colonial."

The miniatures are made from Warlord Games legionaires and Wargames Factory Zulu heads.

A groupshot of the miniatures (2 with pillum and 1 with a shortsword).

Another groupshot.

I hope you enjoyed this small post,
