Wargames Foundry: Back to the Golden Age?

As some may already know 2012 has been a busy year for the new management of Wargames Foundry as the company under Neil Littlewood has been restructuring and reorganizing in an attempt to stop complaints about the high prices, shipping rates and of course to keep up with the rapidly changing wargame industry due to the new evolutions in casting such as plastic and related products such as resin. What have they done?

Bringing back the old times

We all know the famous wargamer tales about lost ranges sculpted in the golden age of Wargames Foundry back in the far flung 80’s by the talented sculptors such as the Michael Perry, Alan Perry, Josef Ochman, Tim Prow to name a few of the masterminds. Some of these large and excellent ranges such as the Renaissance and Baron Wars ranges were replaced by smaller ranges filled with rather boring sculpts lacking the character and the grandeur of the previous ranges. Other ranges such as the gorgeous Aztec range by Josef Ochman simply disappeared from the catalogue!

Due to the discontinuation of many of these excellent ranges, the price of second hand Foundry miniatures rocketed almost making it impossible to collect and game with these miniatures. But do not fear, these times are over!

No more high ebay prices for the miniatures as many of the old ranges have reappeared this year. This massive reorganization of the molds and masters has took some time but many of them have already been added back to the catalogue. The first ranges that have been reintroduced were the massive English Civil War and Thirty Years War ranges. Followed by the North West Frontier, Indian Mutiny, Boer Wars, American Civil War, Aztec, Incas, 2000AD, Renaissance, War of the Roses, Barons Wars, Street Violence, ex-citadel Samurai, Viking, Saxon and Norman, Napoleonic British, Austrian and Bavarian ranges and other colonial ranges!

Flat global shipping rates

One of the changes the management made under Neil Littlewood was to change the excessive postal rates for customers ordering from outside the UK. The new policy now guarantees that customers ordering from outside of the UK will pay the same price for everybody!

Price drop and bonus system

As all these changes such as the release of the old ranges and the flat postal rates weren’t enough. Wargames Foundry has taken the change of policy a whole step further by reducing the price of all their £13 cavalry packs to £12! Saving quite some hard earned cash when assembling regiments of stout cavalrymen for your existing armies. Another nice touch is the in time limited introduction of a bonus system when you buy identical packs or several packs of the same range allowing you receive the same identical blister for free or choose another blister from the range!

1. When you buy three identical blisters you receive an additional identical blister for free.

2. When you buy eight blisters from the same army you receive two extra packs of your choice from the same army for free!

3. When you buy any sixteen blisters from the same army, you receive and astounding six blisters of choice from the same army for free!

Great news or not share your personal opinion here.

Its great news. Living in Australia, the postage charges were prohibitive. Now I can order from them.

@Wardy-la: I must also admit I'm starting to order with them again but still a bit waiting due to their high single blister prices.

@Beccas: you must be happy, postal rates to Australia were a real pain!

Cheers!
