Teepee village

Hi, here a post about a recent terrain project "an indian village". The village consist of 4 teepee's, a campfire, some bowls and a rack that's used to dry and craft furs. I will use this village in several setting from the past to the far future as part of an indiginious way of living.

The teepee's were made by making a frame out of 6-7 sticks and hold together by rope and hotglue. After that the frame was carefully taped with papertape and covered with silicone. The silicone was applied by using a stick and textured when almost dry with my fingers. When dry I covered the teepee's with a light brown reddish color and drybrushed with a beige color. The decorations were painted using a cheap black hobbypaint such as all the paints used.

The teepee's are almost ready but I still need to paint the doors, bases, bowls and the campfire.

The entire village. The campfire was made with hotglue and bits of twig.

The bowls and jars.

I hope you enjoy the photos

Russian Cossack battalion

Hi, here's some progress on one of my 1/72 Cossack battalions! I finally managed to partially paint the horses. I've painted the horses in 4 different colors: black, brown, dark brown and dark grey. the riders are still on sprue and the other horses are waiting to be painted.

The battalion in battle formation.

Close up of some of the horses. I'm not sure about the white saddlebags but I needed some contrast? Any ideas?

Another close up. The saddles and strappings still need painting!

I hope you enjoy this new post!

Blog Action Day 2010!

Hi, today I'm posting to support the blog action initiative which wants to raise awareness about global issues who affect us all. This year the issue is the lack of clean water for everybody! In Africa they haven't got enough clear water for everybody and in the rest of the world we take long showers and baths?

Something isn't right! While we waste precious water, thousands of African civilians are getting sick by drinking filthy and muddy water full of bacteria (and are likely to die from the consequences)! Also ten thousands of children can't go to school because they must walk for several kilometers in search of watersources!

Do you want more information? Go to http://blogactionday.change.org/, are you interested in signing an online petition? Click on the widget on the rightside of this post!

Thanks for reading!

And think of the thousands of people who are in need of water when your taking a nice long shower!

Some progress...

Hi, I've made some progress on some of my ever during terrain projects! But they are likely to be finished before christmas. I haven't much photographs because I'm to lazy to find the camera and most of the projects are stored away in a cabinet.

What I managed to do:

- Basecoat 2 generic colonial houses
- Basecoat my large colonial house
- Build 4 teepee's
- Painted the 4 teepee's (I quit like them)
- Build an Iroquois longhouse (another underway)
- Build a generic campfire
- Basecoated my colonial British fort
- Basecoated some large wooden barricades (anti-dino defence, native style)

At least one photo in this post: the 2 generic colonial houses (to test some new building methodes).

I hope you like them!

Russian Cossack battalions

Hi, here's some progress I've made with my 1/72 Russian army! This time I will be focussing on 2 Cossack battalions made out of Revell miniatures. I always wanted to build and paint these units and now I have the opportunity. Today I managed to unsprue, clean and base the horses for the 2 battalions, I also managed to texture 1 battalion with filler (not visible on the pictures).

Each battalion exist:

- 1 mounted commander (1 figure)
- 1 dismounted cossack with horse (1 figure)
- 15 bases (each with 1 mounted figure)

(The dismounted base will probably be used as dismounted marker when I find some dismounted Cossacks)

The horses for the 2 battalions!

The riders still on sprue but already cleaned up.

I haven't got much hobby time recently but I hope you enjoy the rather few posts.
